Cashman Also Met With Teixeira

From Tyler Kepner:
It turns out Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman’s mystery meeting with Scott Boras yesterday took place in Washington – with Mark Teixeira there, too. If you were Carsten Charles Sabathia right now, what would you think about that?
Very interesting... I've been saying this all off-season - maybe even longer - but if they could somehow pick up both of these guys it would be a tremendous off-season for the Yanks. And with all that money coming off the books and the new stadium being built I see no reason why they shouldn't sign both.

I don't see the point with Swisher being acquired. Swish is a terrible defensive CF. Unless they plan on trading him again, I don't see this happening. I want Tex but we would totally have one of the worst defensive outfields in the league.

Greg, you just made my day. Even the thought of signing both CC and Tex put me in a better mood. Well, until I just read that the Red Sox have now scheduled a meeting with CC.

Use Swisher off the bench. It's not a big deal, they didn't give up much for him.

If they can get Mark Teixeira they would be crazy to let Nick Swisher get in the way.

CC is not going to boston.

I'm really worried about all those years and that money going to CC. That just doesn't usually work out with pitchers. I'm of the mind now that the Yanks should sign Texeira and then get 2-3 of the Lowe, Burnett, Sheets, Oliver Perez group. And like I said in other thread, I'd trade Cano for Kemp.

Keep in mind: all the pitching in the world won't matter if your defense can't catch the ball and if you don't score run. But good defense makes decent pitching better and good bats can score more runs than given up.

Sheets may be Burnett at a much lower price tag. And Yanks can probably get him for fewer years, too.

I'll take Tex and CC. Then we can trade Swisher.
