Girardi: Pettitte Excited About Coming Back

From Joel Sherman:
"I talked to him recently and he is still excited about coming back,'' Girardi said today of Pettitte, who hasn't accepted the one-year, $10 million deal on the table from the Yankees. "They continue to talk; it takes time. He is very excited about the additions to the club and he wants to be here. I think he could help.''
If he's so excited about coming back how about signing the damn contract?

Come on Andy, it's not like $10M is insulting. It's either at or very close to market value, just take the offer if you want back in.

I'm at the point where it wouldn't be the end of the world if we just went with "whoever" as #5 (Hughes, Aceves, etc), but considering Joba's innings limit, and the health risks associated with AJ and pitchers in general, having Pettitte back would probably help. Then if someone can't make a start or gets hurt (knock on wood), Hughes or one of the other young guys can fill in for a while.
