Rosenthal Thinks Pettitte's Return is "Virtually Inevitable"

From Ken Rosenthal (hat tip to Scott Proctor's Arm):
The return of free-agent left-hander Andy Pettitte to the Yankees is "virtually inevitable," according to a source with knowledge of the pitcher's intentions. While a deal is not imminent, it is believed that the two sides will eventually come to an agreement on a one-year deal.
He also says that no other team has shown any serious interest in Pettitte.

Pettitte will probably re-sign by the new year.

I love Andy, but he has made his serious money in his career. 10 million dollars is still ten million dollars. He needs to put on his big boy underwear.. sign the deal and go out a Yankee with 20 wins like Mike did.

Well having Pettitte on a one-year deal is probably the best situation for the Yankees. Because of the trio of young starters they have - Phil Hughes, Alfredo Aceves and Ian Kennedy. One of them is likely to be ready in 2010. So this is good news. I hope it gets done.
