A Day at The Stadium

First of all, a hat tip to Bryan Hoch for posting this great video.

For anyone that remembers what Yankee Stadium sounded like with Eddie Layton and Bob Sheppard worked together, this is for you. It brings back a ton of great memories. This is how I remember Yankee Stadium sounding from when I first started going when I was five years old.

Chris Pavia does a very good impression of Bob Sheppard and plays the organ just like Eddie Layton.

Here's the Youtube description:
Bob Sheppard and Eddie Layton impersonator Chris Pavia takes us through time reflecting back and impersonating the legendary Bob Sheppard and late great Yankee stadium organist Eddie Layton. Listen as Chris takes you back in time sitting in your seat 45 minutes before the game and listening to the sounds of Eddie Layton and Bob Sheppard. And just for the record...that is Chris's real voice!!! no chips, no computers, just a dead on impersonation !! (using his own voice and the same organ , 2 keyboards, and drum machine that Eddie used at Yankee stadium from the mid 80s until 2003-ENJOY!
Chris has several other videos, including the 2007 starting lineup, the all-time greatest Yankees, and a tribute to Bob Sheppard.

Also, do you know how Bob's doing? He said he's going to be back for '09.

No idea. As of the end of last year he was working on getting himself strong enough to come back this year, but I haven't heard anything since.

That's awesome. Perhaps the most memorable elements of my first trips to Yankee Stadium are of Bob and Eddie. It's something that just doesn't come across on TV.

While I really love watching baseball on TV, and there are things you can gather on TV that you can't in person, there's just something so special about being at a game, the pre-game stuff, the way the PA echoes throughout the stadium, the pre-game video wrap up of the last game... but most of all, Eddie Layton's organ music was something that was just complete magic.

I hope they keep the audio at the new stadium similar to what they did at the old stadium. I know it will never sound the same, as they're going to have a spread out audio system as opposed to the old "speaker tower" in CF, but I hope they keep the organ music.
