Giants Offer Manny Four Years?

From CBS5 San Francisco:
The San Francisco Giants are pursuing free-agent slugger Manny Ramirez and have offered him a four-year deal, a well-connected source told CBS 5.

Financial terms of the contract offer were not immediately known. The deal was said by the source to contain incentives for the third year of the contract and a club option for the fourth.
I know he's a great hitter, maybe one of the best we've ever seen, but four years for a guy like Manny is foolish. Especially with the Manny market the way it is. But I guess that's what we should expect from a team who gave Barry Zito a seven-year $126 million deal.

He'll put up his numbers, at least until he decides he's unhappy about losing, or whatever else is bothering Manny that day.

The only kind of deal for Manny that makes sense to me is something short-term, like two years. Anything more opens you up to way too many problems.

If the length is true it is the best offer he'll get...

Any word on the numbers being discussed..??

You're right about that. He won't get more than four years.

No, nothing mentioned about the money.

I guess SF is serious about contending soon...They could probably take the NL West with what, 90 wins..??

Of course this whole thing could be little more than a Boras attempt to create NY/BOS West...
