UPDATE: According to Tony Renck the deal is worth $1.5-million and includes $5.3 million in incentives for games started and innings pitched.
SI.com is reporting that the Cleveland Indians have signed Carl Pavano to a one-year deal.
Good luck with that Cleveland.

Good for him.
good for carl.
good (luck) for the indians.
Watch his sorry butt win 18 games including a 3 hitter vs the Yanks
I will break things if that happens.
Greg, you maybe breaking things...I too have this funny feeling that he will get to cleveland, fresh start, one year deal, no high NY expectations and he will go something like 17-8 with a 3.75 ERA and we will all be shaking our heads...Of course, who cares if that happens as long as we are back in the playoffs and World Series.
I could actually see that happening too.
"Of course, who cares if that happens as long as we are back in the playoffs and World Series."
Great point.
I really hope he does ok. I do feel somewhat bad for the guy. I think the fans were really hard on him, and that's not to say he wasn't somewhat deserving of it, but I just think he didn't really get a fair shake.
While I think that at times he was a bit "soft", it's clear there were injuries and issues that kept him from being able to perform. And I can't really fault the guy for being cautious with aches and pains, as everyone's body is different. You're talking about your career and your future, and if you're not healthy, pitching with soreness or injury can lead to worse problems. If he had to have surgery, I don't think he was making it up.
I guess my point is that even though it didn't look good, we don't really know the extent of his pain and injuries, and if he could have worked through them differently.
I do appreciate the fact that he didn't badmouth NY to Burnett, and he never took any shots at the fans or the organization.
My first reaction upon hearing this news was "Watch him stay perfectly healthy the entire year." Wouldn't that be just our luck? I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he does well. Like Greg, I'll break things if he pitches well against us....
I'll give him credit for not bad-mouthing the Yankees, though.
Imagine getting paid all that money while injured?
Mike
