Bad News Guys...

The bleachers will once again be alcohol-free.

I know, I know, it sucks.

People had been wondering about this for a while and today we finally got the answer from Peter Abraham:

Based on the pocket schedules they gave us today, the following sections will be booze-free:

Section 201-204 in the bleachers (right field) and sections 235-239 on the main level.
I was looking at a seating chart for the new place and noticed that sections 235-239 are the left field bleachers. So I'm going to assume that's what Peter is talking about and that all bleacher seats will be alcohol-free.

its so insane. the bleachers are no more a family section than any other part. I wonder if its an effort to drive sales of the upper deck. this will be moot in the new park when the whole thing is sold out, so they might as well cash in on the concession sales. also its just wrong. this is the nicefying of america, its really boring.

I had a great time in right field like 12 years ago. Texas was in town, and it was the year after Rubin Sierra was sent to Texas. So he was playing right of course and the bleachers were on him all day with the "Ruuuubin, Ruuuubin". It was a saturday game, sun was blazing, nobody was sober. I have no idea who it was but someone pelted a long fly to right, Rubin comes running back, we all stand up, Rubin leaps at the wall, the ball hits the wall and goes left, Rubin hits the wall and goes right, everyone screamed, and I swear 100 full beer cups came flying over my head onto the field. It was spectacular! My best Stadium experience ever.

No beer bothers me, but limiting freedom of speech is an atrocity. The fact that Vin gets tossed if he starts a "box seats suck" chant makes me want to slash Steinbrenner's tires. Especially infuriating when Boston is in town because Yankee fans get it just as bad in Fenway and the Boston PD isn't exactly running to their defense.

You mean they'll now throw you out if you start a "box seats suck" chant? If so, they are a bunch of pukes.

Sucks, didn't really expect a change though.

I just hope the Twin Stop Deli around the corner is serving again.
