"We're all very supportive of all our teammates," Bruney said. "Alex has no reason to do anything like that. I've seen firsthand - as I'm sure everyone has - how hard Alex works. I don't believe it. That's where I stand. I honestly don't believe it."
Bruney said the SI report, which cited four anonymous sources, had "no backbone," and until he heard who was making the claims, he chooses not to believe the story.
"It's unfortunate that something like this comes out with no backbone on it," Bruney said. "Alex, honestly, is the hardest worker I've ever seen in any sport. It's pretty impressive to see how he works and takes care of himself, what he eats. He's kind of like a robot. He already is the best player to ever play this game, in my opinion, and he would have no reason to do anything like that."
I'm glad he's showing support for his teammate, but come on, he doesn't believe the story? Give me a break. Do you really think SI would run with this story if it didn't have a backbone?"In the clubhouse, we all love Alex and we support everything he does," Bruney said. "I know I'm glad he's on my team, that's for sure."
And being a hard worker doesn't mean you're not a cheater. Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte were both very hard workers.

No backbone...please!
And look, Brian Bruney made the news...talk about piggybacking off A-Rod!
jorgesaysno
Like I said, I like the fact that he's backing A-Roid... I mean A-Rod... But why make yourself sound like a moron in the process?
yea actually i do believe they would run it if it didnt have a backbone. why? because its arod and they want to make money. but realistically he prob did take them, anybody whos anybody did peds. so get off your high horses and recongnize that the entire era is fake, dont piss on arod cause he was trying to keep up.
Show me some proof.
Show me some evidence.
Give me something substantial.
4 anonymous sources have a piece of paper with your name on it.
It says you tested positive for steroids.
You can't defend against this.
This is solid proof.
A piece of paper that a child can mock up.
You are hereby guilty until proven innocent.
Then why hasn't he denied it? Why, instead, did he decide to hide and leave the country?
Let's see what his statement has to say AROD Haters. Besides isn't this lady written a book on AROD? Oh, how convenient.
This has nothing to do with being an A-Rod hater. It's fairly obvious from his reaction last year to Canseco and now this. If he didn't do it, just deny it. Don't say, "talk to the union."
