Bruney Determined To Prove Reynolds Wrong

From Ken Rosenthal:
Yankees reliever Brian Bruney still cannot believe what he heard on the MLB Network from his friend and fellow Oregonian, Harold Reynolds.

"He said, 'They'll still have the problem of getting to Mariano (Rivera) in the ninth inning,"' Bruney recalls.

"I take that personally. I'll show him. See what he's saying mid-year when you're rolling. I want the eighth inning."

Reynolds, reached by telephone Saturday night, says he has nothing against Bruney. He just believes the Yankees should put Joba Chamberlain back in the bullpen.

"If they do that, they would have Bruney, Chamberlain, (Jose) Veras, (Damaso) Marte," Reynolds says. "You'd be making it a six-inning game for 162 games. Book them into the World Series."

If Bruney can throw strikes a little more consistently than he has in the past, I think he should have no problems setting up for Mo. What about you, do you think the Yankees will have problems getting the ball to Mo if Bruney is their main setup man?

Ha ha Mark Melancon continues to get ignored. I understand he's a rookie but still.
He will eventually end up being out set-up man.

Maybe he's being ignored by Reynolds and Bruney, but I posted a Chad Jennings story yesterday about how Melancon was hoping to make the team out of spring training.

I'm really liking Bruney's attitude this offseason. This guy is a high-character individual.

I agree anon.

I think I'm just sick of hearing about Joba going to the pen. He's a starter, period. He's shown he can be equally as dominant as a starter as he was as a reliever.

If this season he cannot handle the starting role, then he can go back to the pen, but for now, people just need to get it through their head that he is in the starting rotation.

Oh and Bruney will do fine :)

We all are sick of the Joba to the pen stuff, at least most of us.

I just included that in the post because it explains where Reynolds was coming from.

Joba to the pen stuff is becoming so tired. You might as well believe in alien abductions if you think he helps the team more in the back end.

I think that most people who want Joba in the pen don't know who Mark Melancon or David Robertson are.

Great to hear Bruney so excited about the season.

Harold Reynolds is a moron , why do you think ESPN got rid of him , he will be off mlb within a year. But , it really sickens me how these television guys like reyonds do ZERO research or atleast ask the pawns they have to find out more about the teams they are talking about. Reynolds knows little to nothing about the yankees just like tim macarver or joe buck does, they dont watch this team on a daily basis. If they did they would know that the yankee bullpen was very good last year. Veras is solid, bruney is solid, marte and ramirez are good in spots, plus young kids like robertson , coke , and one that will eventually be the closer named Melancon. add some others such as j.b cox and kevin whalen and possibly guys like brackman and humberto sanchez who may end up in the pen. Yankees have no problems with bullpen help they have a ton of really talent young power arms. Joba was a terrific reliever but that was never his place. THe man is a starter, you dont see Reynolds complaining about David price should be in the bullpen do you? and they almost won a championship last year. Where were all these morons when Joba was outpitching Beckett last year in Fenway no less. Please you people make me sick because you are so blind you refuse to look at what is right in front of you.

Kruk is also in that "Joba in the pen" camp.

Why the hell is the mainstream media all thinking Joba should be in the pen? Why???

Again none of them do their homework. none of them even take the time to see that the yankees have a good bullpen and a future closer in Melancon, not to mention a group of others including whelan, sanchez, cox, brackman, veras, brunney, etc etc. KRUK AND REYNOLDS PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT ON THE YANKEES IF YOU HAVE NO F*** CLUE
