Posada's Shoulder Improving

From George A. King III:
When Jorge Posada began a throwing program to rehabilitate his surgically repaired right shoulder, the baseball had the velocity of a ping pong ball going into a blower.

Yesterday, the catcher's throws from 220 feet to coach Tony Pena at George M. Steinbrenner Field were strong from start to finish. His shorter throws had zip to them.

"Wow," Pena said after the session was complete.

The key to the Yankees' season is Posada, their switch-hitting catcher. He has to be healthy and productive.

"It feels good," Posada said of the hinge that has been pain-free. "Today was good."

Seems like he's progressing faster than the team expected him to, which is great unless he's pushing himself too hard and ends up reinjuring the shoulder. But I'm sure the Yankees are watching him like a hawk to make sure he doesn't do that.

Besides the A-Roid stuff, this has been a pretty successful camp so far in the early stages for the Yankees. Posada, Wang, and Mariano seem to progressing nicely from last season's injuries, the new guys seem to be fitting in, Bernie Williams is back, and Derek Jeter actually expressed a strong opinion about something. All in all, it's been a good first week.

Glad Jorge's doing well, but I wonder how the A-Rod mess is affecting morale. I'm sure they're asked about it every six seconds.

Michael Kay was saying the other day that morale is good, people are just getting annoyed that A-Rod created this. He also implied that A-Rod was kinda the outcast. Like he's just hanging around on the sidelines while everyone else was having a good time.
