A-Rod Apologizes To SI's Selena Roberts

From Tom Singer:
Alex Rodriguez, who was critical of Selena Roberts' actions as she reported a story about him for Sports Illustrated, called her a couple of days later to apologize for his comments.

Roberts confirmed on Sunday that she had received a Wednesday phone call from Rodriguez. However, she is withholding any further comment until after Rodriguez's anticipated news conference at the Yankees' Spring Training camp on Tuesday in Tampa, Fla.

Among other comments about Roberts during the ESPN interview with Peter Gammons, Rodriguez said Roberts was "trying to throw things out there that in high school I tried steroids. I mean, that's the biggest bunch of baloney I've ever heard in my life" and that "this lady is coming out with all these allegations, all these lies."

Rodriguez had also accused her of "stalking" him and of trying to break into his Florida home. A Miami Beach Police spokesman said Roberts did not try to break into Rodriguez's home.

I wonder if how A-Rod will feel after her book is released on April 14th. From what I hear about the book he may be wishing he never apologized.

Another A-Rod side note, it was reported today that Joe Girardi will be on hand at Alex's press conference next week.

"I think it shows the unity of the club, and I think that's real important," Girardi said Sunday. "I think it's important that teammates back teammates, and they're there for each other, and they know during difficult times they can lean on each other. Because, you know what? There's going to be something else that comes up this year that's difficult maybe for a player to get through."

You ever notice with Arod that he never stands by ANYTHING. He feels pressure about something and automatically changes his mind. Its amazing. Like the Baseball Classic, he was playing for the US, felt pressure to play for the Dominican, so he changed his mind. Like his contract opt out. Like his marriage. Like his quotes about Jeter. Like the Selena Roberts stuff. Like everything. The guy blows in the wind like the worst kind of politician. Is there anything REAL about him? I mean, at least stick by the comments you made about the woman that basically destroyed your reputation! He cannot even do that.
I am SO tired of AROD. I want to to focus on Tex, CC, and the young kids in spring training because thats what it is all about. If I could get Swisher to play 3B and release AROD I would (seriously)...ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. This is the New York Yankees, not the New York Arods. Read chapter 8 in Torre's book "The issues with Alex" and you will realize this guy is a fake and a phony and a HUGE DISTRACTION.

people you need to relax on the guy. This is more of a PR move than anything else. besides those allegations against Roberts actually hurt him more than anything. he can't prove them. Arod is in "restore reputation" mode and part of it is turning the table and seem like a guy who is very disappointed in himself. Roberts will look like a bully by the time the book comes out. Arod's advisers will do anything for him to restore his image. he has 9 years to do so. it won't help Arod to make himself enemy of the media. remember these guys are fickle, and they will make him pay by no voting him into the hall of fame. so he might as well get along with them (see Jim Rice for reference).

I wish "they" would leak out some other names on that list of 104 to take the heat off Alex. Too bad the leak hated A-Rod and the Yankees, we'll never know the other big names.
