It was by far A.J. Burnett's worst start of the spring. In 4.1 innings pitched he allowed seven runs - six earned - on ten hits and three walks. He struck out just one and allowed three home runs. He threw 83 pitches on the day, 53 for strikes. “I was out of whack all day,” Burnett said.

Damaso Marte relieved Burnett. He pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed a run on two hits.

Mariano Rivera was next out of the pen and continued his spring of dominance. After allowed a bloop single to start off the inning he struck out the side in order. He threw 16 pitches, 10 for strikes.

Phil Coke had an impressive outing, he went two innings allowing just one hit and striking out four. He also picked up the win to improve his spring record to 3-0.

Jose Veras picked up the save by throwing a scoreless ninth.

The Yankees offense was firing on all cylenders yesterday as they pounded out nine runs on 14 hits. Johnny Damon led the way going 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Xavier Nady and Brett Gardner also had big games, both going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Robinson Cano homered and drove in two. It was Cano's third homer of the spring. Like last year Cano is having another very good spring. Hopefully this time he carries it into the season.

Ten Yankees had hits on the day, and six different Yankees had at least one RBI.

I'm kinda glad AJ got a stinker out of the way before going into the season. It was inevitably going to happen, he's been lights out.

Me too actually. I'm not too worried about him, as long as he stays healthy.

Too bad Melky Mesa didn't bat. The guy has some power. Even though I don't think he ever took two pitches in a row. Ever. He swings at everything. He's funny though.
