The Yankees defeated the Tigers today at George M. Steinbrenner Field 4-3 to pick up their ninth win in a row. After struggling to start the spring it looks like Joba Chamberlain is turning things around. For the third start in a row Joba looked sharp as he held Detroit to a run on four hits, while striking out five in 3.1 innings pitched. He didn't walk a batter, and threw 41 of his 61 pitches for strikes. He did get into too many deep counts, but overall it was a good start for the young flamethrower.
Mariano Rivera had another easy inning, striking out two, though he did allow his first hit of the spring. He needed just 12 pitches - 10 strikes - to get through the inning.
Jonathan Albaladejo pitched allowed three hits and struckout one over 1.2 scoreless innings.
Edwar Ramirez blew the save, allowing a run on two hits in one inning, but was able to pick up his first win of the spring. Jose Veras also gave up a run in one inning pitched.
Zach Kroenke picked up the save with a scoreless ninth.
Juan Miranda only had one at-bat but he sure did make his presence felt breaking a 2-2 tie in the 7th with a two-run homer.
Mark Teixeira went 1-for-2 with a walk, a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Johnny Damon also drove in a run, going 1-for-3 with a double.
Melky Cabrera was the only Yankees who had a multi-hit game, he went 2-for-3 with a double.

The Yanks head to Port Charlotte to play the Rays tomorrow afternoon. Alfredo Aceves starts for the Yanks, with James Shields going for the Rays. Game time is set for 1:05 p.m. The game is on MLB.TV and the MLB Network, but YES will probably black the game out for anyone in the New York area.
