Andy Pettitte ended his spring in fine fashion today by allowing just a run on five hits in 6.2 innings, while striking out seven. In 22 innings this spring (including minor-league games) Pettitte had a 1.23 ERA and has struck out 20. Not too shabby. It all won't matter if he gets rocked in his first couple starts once the season starts, but it's still nice to see him have a good spring, especially coming off a shoulder injury.
The bullpen did its job as Damaso Marte, Jose Veras, and Edwar Ramirez combined for 2.1 shutout innings, allowing just two hits. Ramirez picked up the save, his second of the spring.
Mark Teixeira continues his hot hitting, going 2-for-3 with a walk a double and two RBI. He's now hitting .408/.464/.653 with 2 HR and 8 RBI this spring.
Angel Berroa went 1-for-1 and drove in the Yankees other run with an RBI double. Ramiro Pena who is fighting Berroa for the utility spot went 0-for-2 with a strikeout.
Derek Jeter went 1-for-2 with a stolen base and a run scored.

Only two games left in Florida. Thank goodness. The first is tomorrow afternoon in Sarasota as the Yanks take on the Cincinnati Reds. Joba Chamberlain will start for the Yankees, with right-hander Micah Owings going for the Reds. Game time is set for 1:05 p.m.

I changed my mind and now I hope Berroa makes the team.
Hahaha, what made you change your mind?
