A-Rod Wishes Reyes Was A Yankee

From Arthur Staple:
"I wish he was leading off on our team, playing on our team," Rodriguez said of Reyes, who hustled to take an extra base in the fifth inning and then stole third and scored in the Dominican team's 10-1 win over the Marlins. "That's fun to watch. Anytime you have that type of speed... I mean, we have a guy in (Brett) Gardner that'll be fun. That's probably the most you can have, watching those guys run."

Rodriguez may have forgotten who plays shortstop for the Yankees these days, but he quickly remembered once his brief press conference was over. A Dominican team spokesman told reporters that Rodriguez's compliment of Reyes was not intended as a shot at Jeter, the Yankees captain who has remained somewhat distant since A-Rod's steroid admission.
Marc Carig asks if we fans think this is a shot at Jeter. Personally, I don't think it is, and to add to that, I wish Reyes was a Yankee too. I don't think you have to be against Jeter to realize that Reyes would be great for the Yankees.

Also I think his praise of Brett Gardner was more of a sign that he wasn't bashing anyone. Maybe he thinks Brett Gardner can be the kind of offensive catalyst for the Yanks as Reyes is for the Mets. Who knows?

Either way, I don't think A-Rod was intending to knock the Yankees captain three weeks after being outed as a steroid user. If he did, then he's a bigger train wreck than anyone thought he was.

I can't beleive i'm saying this but A-Rod is a total Bitch.

I dont think that was that big of a deal. As Cashman says Alex is a bad communicator with the media. He was just trying talking about Reyes speed not trying to insult Jeter. Media makes too big of deal of everything A-Rod and trys to dissect his every word. Nice to see him give Gardner credit.

Well Jeter is starting to get too old to play short. I like the idea of haveing Reyes as the yankee shortstop of the future, but Hanely Ramirez is a better option.

Ok.
Let's trade Alex for Johan and everybody will be happy.

A-rod has such a good way with words

A-Rod isn't the best with words, but this is clearly nothing more than trying to say something nice about a teammate. It was an attempt to "say the right thing" by complementing a Met and a Dominican teammate's efforts and you just knew someone would take it the wrong way.

I don't think he meant any harm, but it's like making comments about women in front of your wife.

You guys are right, he just doesn't know when not to say something.

No Greg, the media just likes to make a story out of nothing. If anyone else had said this it wouldn't have even been reported. The media are Arod vultures, so many are making careers off this guy. It's a joke.

Greg, I'm real glad you're not like Staple or Abraham and using your platform to turn this quote into a Jeter bashing, and another anti-Alex propaganda just because.

That's just irresponsible journalism on their part and gets me mad.

AROD is obviously trying for guiness book of world records for how far he can shove his sterioded foot into his big frickin mouth. I'm a diehard Yanks fan, and if we ever win a ring with him, it will be a freaking miracle, he is a cancer, there are just some people who trouble follows, no matter how much what they do, who they have there to help them, they can't help themselves, they love chaos...

hahahahaha, why don't you tell us how you really feel.

The guy just doesn't know when to shut up. That's the bottom line.
