Rollins Wants To Take Out Yanks and Mets

From Kevin Kernan:
Everybody knows how much Jimmy Rollins loves to beat the Mets. His world champion Phillies are the team to beat but Rollins' ultimate baseball dream is to beat both New York teams in the same season.

Whip the Mets in the NL East or in the NLCS, then topple the Yankees in the World Series; New York, New York.

"That would be the sickest," Rollins told me yesterday as he sat in the third-base dugout after Team USA's practice at Dolphin Stadium. "That's something for the history books, Philadelphia knocking off two New York teams. I might retire. I mean, what else can I do after that?"

He smiled and said, "Guess I got to live up to the rest of my contract, though."

And he made it loud and clear, the Phillies are ready to go back-to-back:

"We're going to be ready," Rollins promised. "When you play in a city like Philadephia, you better be ready. We want it now. We want to win again.

"We have an edge, we enjoy hating the other teams," he said. "We really do. We want to take you by your head, put it under the sand, and then step on your neck, for real."

"How else do you win?" Rollins wondered.

"That's how the Yankees did it as a team," said the 2007 NL MVP. "We're going to stomp on you, we're going to take your pride, everything about you, we are going to take from you. That's been our ambition the last couple of years."

The Phillies have done just that to the Mets.

"We love to despise them," Rollins said.

He also said he's been picking Derek Jeter's brain a bit:
"I talk to him a lot," Rollins said. "I asked about winning four titles, and he shared some of that knowledge with me."
And that this year's WS title is going to go through Philly:
"If they take the title from me, they take it from me, but they're going to have to take it," Rollins said.
He talks a lot, but you have to admit, he does back it up, just ask the Mets. And for that, I can't help but respect him. He also happens to be a damn good ballplayer.

If you're wondering, Rollins will get his chance during the regular season to take down the Yanks, he and the Phillies visit the new stadium on May 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.

Watching the mutts collapse 2 years in a row was great. I was rooting for the phillies last year I didn't want to see the rays win the world series.

Yea I rooted for them too last year.

Yea, he backs it up but there is a lot of trash talking coming from philly after they won their first series in how many years? Cole Hamels and Jimmy Rollins are great players but they need to shut their mouths and put their words into the season and on to the field no team has gone back to back since the Yanks and I don't think that is going to change.

Will all the mouth these guys are running someone will take them down whether it is manny and the dodgers, K-Rod and the Mets, or I would love for CC and the Yanks to stomp these smart asses.

If they go back to back then they can talk but for now shut your mouths and get ready for the season. Come on the yanks and sox aren't even that bad when it comes to trash talking. In fact Yanks don't trash talk the fans do. lol

Why does Jeter need to share victory stories? Let him save the motivational speeches for his teammates on the Yankees.

Yea the whole team does a lot of talking, but I think they feed off that stuff.

And yes, I'd love for the Yankees to stomp them all out.

I was thinking the same thing She-Fan. Same thing with Mariano letting Papelbon pick his brain.

Stop sharing all this info with the enemy.
