News & Notes: Alex Rodriguez is having his surgery today. ... Mariano Rivera rejoined the Yankees after watching Panama get bounced out of the WBC. He threw 30 pitches this morning in a bullpen session. Peter Abraham said his stuff "had a lot more pop than he did the other day." When asked how it went Rivera said "Tremendous." ... Peter also reports that Jorge Posada worked on his throws to second base this morning, making a dozen throws, and said he "Felt great."
A-Rod Surgery Update: Dr. Marc Philippon told the media that A-Rod's surgery went well, and that he believes that the Yankees definitely made the right decision.
UPDATE 1:53 p.m.: Pettitte is done for the day after 1.2 innings, apparently he's reached his pitch limit. His line: 1.2 H, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K.
UPDATE 2:12 p.m.: The Jays lead 1-0 on a Russ Adams home run off Dan Giese.
UPDATE 2:15 p.m.: The Yankees come right back to take a 2-1 lead on Brett Gardner two-run home run. Shockingly, he now leads the team this spring with three.
UPDATE 3:00 p.m.: Ian Kennedy is not having a good game. He allowed one run in the 5th, and 2 more in the 6th. The Jays now lead 4-2. ... He gave up another run on a Travis Snider solo homer. 5-2 Jays.
UPDATE 3:40 p.m.: Kennedy gave up a fifth run in 7th. The Jays now lead 6-2 in the bottom of the 8th.
UPDATE 4:05 p.m.: That's the ballgame folks. Jays win 6-2.

Girardi was saying that Gardner made adjustments in his swing and is using his legs for more power. Not saying he is going to hit a lot of home runs. But he is hitting the ball a lot harder than he was last year.
Interesting, when did he say this?
Michael Kay was saying that what Long and Girardi were telling him about Gardner.
Oh I see. Cool.
Kennedy blows!
I'm gonna say it right, if you can get a solid reliever for Kennedy...get it done. I don't see him being any more than a #5 especially with the Yankees.
I agree, ship him to the NL.
Ship him to Japan like they did with Rasner... well thats a little harsh.
Rasner chose to go to Japan, I don't think the Yanks could send a player there.
We'll make him go to Japan.
