News & Notes

- With the center field situation being decided yesterday there are just two more roster situations to iron out; the final bullpen spot and the utility man spot. Brett Tomko and Angel Berroa appeared to be the clear favorites for both position, but Jonathan Albaladejo and Ramiro Pena have made a strong case for themselves.

- The Yankees have added eight minor leaguers to the roster for today's game: RHP Kevin Whelan, C Mitch Abeita, C Kyle Anson, INF Eric Duncan, INF Luis Nunez, INF Justin Snyder, OF James Cooper, and OF Jack Rye.

- Rule 5 draft pick Ivan Nova has cleared waivers and is now back on the Yankees, according to Chad Jennings. The Yankees assigned Nova to Double-A Trenton.

- In other minor-league news, also from Chad Jennings, Alan Horne is back on the mound. He threw a 25-pitch bullpen session yesterday. He is set to throw two innings in a game on Wednesday.

- Just a reminder: ONE WEEK UNTIL THE REAL GAMES BEGIN!!!

UPDATE 2:20 p.m.: The Yanks scored a run in the top of the first on a Mark Teixeira RBI single. There has been no scoring since, it's still 1-0 Yanks in the top of the 5th.

In four innings Andy Pettitte has allowed just three hits and struck out five.

UPDATE 2:48 p.m.: The Jays tied it on a Marco Scutaro RBI double. It's now 1-1 in the top of the 7th.

UPDATE 3:55 p.m.: Pettitte was done after 6.2 innings, here's his final numbers: 5 hits, 1 run, 1 earned run, 0 walks, 7 strikeouts, 1 wild pitch.

The Yankees added single runs in the 7th and 8th on RBIs from Mark Teixeira and Angel Berroa, and that's how the game ended, a 3-1 Yankee win.

Hey guys! Yankeeboy here. I'm not home, but I'm typing from a computer in my library. I'll be home to talk about the Bombers in about 20 minutes.

Sorry, in my school's library.

ESPN predicts the yanks come in third with 91 wins 4 games back from boston... shocker.

Typical ESPN crap.

Andy was great today.

I think ESPN is full of crap. I can't really see this team missing the playoffs unless at least 3 of their starters miss significant time.
