if we had our whole team i think we could beat them in a short series... it would be tough but we have an allstar team.

Greg Cohen said...

I agree. Especially when you consider the pitching staffs of both teams.

you know what i would rather see... each divisions all stars playing eachother. the AL East all stars vs AL Central all stars and so on.. obviously the AL East would win.

or they should just put in a video game for fun.

They have something very similar in NBA 2K9. They have teams like the Eastern Conference All-Stars, Western Conference All-Stars, European All-Stars, etc.

Hughes' fastball looks really good in terms of tailing movement. It's somtimes hard to tell, but it looks like it's got some life on it that it hasn't always had at times in the past.

If he can hone the off speed stuff, and hit both corners with that fastball, he's going to be this team's 4 or 5 no doubt next year. Hopefully he's not even needed in 09, but if he is, I'd have confidence in him keeping us in ballgames.

Watching the game right now. Gardner had a hit in the first, but just showed why Melky has an edge on defense. His arm is just not good.

You gotta love Kay, talking as though Melky would have thrown someone out on that long fly ball to center where both runners tagged. Melky might not have even caught that ball, after taking three steps in first.

I hate that I feel like I have to knock Melky, because I really don't have anything against the kid, but some people just overrate everything he does.

Jeter with the seeing eye single up the middle off of Hughes. Thanks a lot Derek haha. Good outing from Hughes against an all-star lineup.

God I hate moving... The cable guy is installing my cable right now, and he's not done so I can't watch the game. DAMN IT!

LOL That sucks. Phil Coke got the final out in the 3rd, and is now pitching in the 4th.

Strikes out Dunn on a high fastball. His fastball is sneaky fast.

Greg Cohen said...

Oh shit... I think I can watch on the computer.

Youkilis grounds out on a one hopper to third

strikes out Braun on a high fastball. that sneaky fastball again

Good outing by Coke. I really like this guy. He could be a key guy out of the pen this year. It would be nice to actually have two reliable lefties in the pen, both of whom could be legit 7th/8th inning guys. If all goes well, Bruney/Coke/Marte could be a good trio for the 7th and 8th innings. That's not even considering Veras.

Great play by Jeter and Pukeylass doesn't scoop it.

Anyone else's YES network on the fritz, or is it just my cable system?

What's funny is the MLB network is carrying the game via the YES feed and it's still on there.

Oh, by the way, the MLB network's 30 clubs in 30 days thing is going to feature the Yankees today at 4pm. It's an hour long look at the team. I'm not really sure it will be of much use to Yankee fans though. I think it's probably better if you're not familiar with the team. For us, we probably know anything they're going to say.

Greg Cohen said...

Hopefully I'll have TV by then.

The original broadcast of the Yankees 30 teams in 30 days was on February 22, so bear in mind some of the info might be old news.

Gardner had a .414 OBP last season at AAA. Even if he has around a .360 OBP in the majors, he could be a major part of the offense... now he just slapped a double down the LF line, and he's 3 for 3 with a double and a stolen base.

Nice performance from Hacker.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, Hacker didn't quite do the job there lol. Although the defense let him down a bit.

As long as the team looks good with regard to the 25 man roster guys, I'm happy. The 25-ers looked good today.

Greg Cohen said...

You guys have no idea how pissed I am that I can't watch this game.

Anonymous said...

LOL sorry Greg, don't mean to laugh at you. Don't worry, there's still lots (too much) spring training left.

YES will be rebroadcasting the game later tonight anyway (11pm-1:30am) so you can catch some of it then if you want.

Greg Cohen said...

Ehhh, laugh all you want.

How long can it take to install cable? sheesh haha

Yay, Nady got a hit. Good line drive single through the left side. That was preceeded by a bloop single that Dunn maybe lost in the sun or something.

6-1 team USA, Yanks have 1st and 2nd no outs.

Anonymous said...

RBI single for Ransom, 6-2 now, still no outs, bottom 6th

Anonymous said...

Posada had that bloop single, by the way:

-Posada bloop, J-Rod pinch ran
-Nady line drive single
-Ransom single, J-Rod scores, Nady to 2nd
-Cash Ks, 1 out

Berroa fouling off 5,000 pitches before hitting a dribbler to 3rd, fielded by a charging Wright for the out, runners advance. 2nd and 3rd, 2 outs.

Anonymous said...

Swisher hits a two run double to RF (batting right handed against the lefty Thornton). He hit it over Victorino's head in RF. Shane looked like maybe he got a bad jump or was playing too shallow and the ball just got over him and bounced over the RF wall. 6-4 USA, 2 outs, Swish on 2nd.

Anonymous said...

Colin Curtis K's to end the inning, 6-4 after 6.

Damn son, your live blogging was a lot more successful than mine. I guess my blog hasn't been around long enough, but I didn't get any comments.

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry to hear that.

Anonymous said...

Greg,
I'm at school right now so i'm not watching the game either. I'm watching it at 7. Hopefully you have cables. Sorry man.

Greg Cohen said...

There was a problem, they had to drill through a wall or two. Pain in the ass.

Highlights of the day:

Gardner 3-3 with a 2B and a SB.

Jeter 2-4 with 2 RBI.

Yankees pitching holds an All Star lineup to just 6 hits.

Team USA barely squeaks out a victory over the NY Yankees minus Jeter, A-Rod, and Cano.

WTF of the day:

The Team USA players playing the entire game. WTF Davey.

Greg Cohen said...

I can't believe he's played these guys the whole game. That's insane.
