Andy Pettitte made his spring debut today for the Yankees and looked good. In 1.2 innings pitched he allowed a hit and a walk, and struck out two.

Dan Giese followed Pettitte, and in 2.1 innings pitched he allowed a run on two hits, and struck out two.

Ian Kennedy
was on the mound next for the Yanks and did not have a good day. He allowed five runs - all earned - on five hits and a walk.

Steven Jackson struck out the only hitter he faced.

Jonathan Albaladejo pitched a scoreless inning and struck out two.

And David Robertson retired all three batters he faced in his scoreless frame.

Offensively the Yankees obviously didn't do much today. Brett Gardner went 2-for-3 and hit his team leading third homer of the spring, a two-run shot that accounted for both Yankees runs. He also showed off his speed on the day, reaching on a bunt single, and going from first to third on a Melky Cabrera single.

Mark Teixeira also picked up two hits on the day, a single and a double.

Melky Cabrera, Colin Curtis, Doug Bernier, and Angel Berroa had one hit apiece.

why don't you write about gardner's great day?

Fine, I just added his bunt single and going from first to third on a single.. Did I miss anything?

Aside from Joba, every pitcher who's a decent lock to make the team has pitched quite well, so that's good. The offense I'm not at all worried about, as some guys are still working their way back (Posada, Matsui), others are gone (Cano, Jeter, A-Rod). Hopefully everything will come together in time for the season (aside from A-Reod who hopefully won't be gone too long).

Gardner continues to make a case for himself. At this point, I think it's going to take a miracle for him not to be the starting CF.

I'm glad we get to see the game on YES tomorrow, I want to see Joba pitch. Hopefully he fares better than last time out. Not that I'm overly concerned, as I think he'll be fine, but you don't want to be throwing the ball that bad for too long.

I'm happy to watch a game too. It feels like there haven't been enough games on TV this year.

I'm also not worried about the offense, even without A-Rod. This team will score some runs, but winning always comes down to pitching.
