Torre Likes the New Stadium, Might Visit in July

From Rhett Bollinger:
Dodgers manager Joe Torre said he liked the new Yankee Stadium when he saw it on television, but he admitted on Saturday he still hasn't visited the new park.

"I was invited to walk through at one point, but I never did it," Torre said. "But I'm certainly not one of those who said it shouldn't have been built. The old one was falling apart."

Torre, who won four World Series titles while managing the Yankees, said he "probably" will visit the stadium when the Dodgers travel to New York to play the Mets at Citi Field in July.

"I know what went into building it," Torre said. "It was based on making a stop at every other ballpark there was, and I don't want to say improving on it, but maybe learning from what they felt they could have done differently."
Hopefully the Yankees aren't still holding their grudge over his book by July. Otherwise he may have to buy a ticket to get into the stadium.

Torre was invited at the dirt cerimony over the offseason before his book.

I hope the yankees are holding a grudge and not allow Torre into the building. Torre cant be trusted he will bring Verducci with him.

Torre is prob. not going to be welcome for a while.
You don't write a book dissing Cashman and the organization and expect to be treated the same way.

BTW this has nothing to do with this topic but i wanted to talk about it.

It seems that every analyst and writer out there seems to think that the Red Sox are a better team and will beat out the Yankees simply because they are younger.

Newsflash to these fools who again need to actually do some work, The Red Sox are not a younger team than the yankees in fact their average age is higher than the yankees.

Gardner and Ellsbury both 25
Varitek and Posada both 37
Jason bay and JD Drew are 30 and 33 for everyone who thinks they are so young.
Cano and Pedroia are both 26
Mike Lowell is 35 , arod is 33
Ortiz is 33 , Matsui is 34.
And BTW if you arent blinded by RedSox love then you know they have just as much injury questions coming from offseason as well.

Rotation wise sure Pettite is 36 but , the Red Sox have their Wakefield who is 42.
Depth wise they have their Buchholtz who is 24 which is older than Hughes at 22.
Derek Jeter at short is the only spot where they are younger than us.
Also, Rivera compared to Papalbon, but lets not forget Rivera is an ageless wonder, guy is still easily dominating batters.

So enough already with the Red Sox are so young they have such a great farm system. Please they are actually slightly older on average with 28.7 avg age compared to 28.1
If you are going to disrespect the yankees compared to the red sox due it based on performance not ages. O and BTW actually look something up you so called EXPERTS.

The Red Sox are obviously not younger then the Yankees.
It's just a nice feeling for folks who hate the Yankees to say.

I think if Torre wants to visit, let him. Book or no book, he's the most successful Yankee manager since Casey Stengel.

Besides, the Yankees have no say in it anyway. The place belongs to the City of New York, right?

Nom I don't think so.

I think the old stadium belonged to the city.

I believe I read something recently that the Yankees finally struck a deal with the city over the selling of the old stadium memorabilia. Like seats and stuff.

Know what? You're right. The old place is owned by the City. Oops.
