Today was CC Sabathia's final spring tune-up before opening day, and it wasn't his best outing. In 3.2 innings the big lefty allowed two runs on six hits and a walk, he also struck out five. He threw 70 pitches, 44 of them for strikes. He was limited to 70 pitches today which is the reason for the early exit. His next start will be opening day against the Orioles, a day I know we've all been waiting for. I'm pretty excited to see CC pitch in a real game for our Yankees.

It was a very good day for all relievers that are on the roster. Jose Veras, Damaso Marte, Phil Coke, and Brian Bruney combined for 4.1 scoreless innings, they allowed one hit (Veras), walked two, and struck out three.

Jason Stephens had a rough outing, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning.

Steven Jackson retired the only batter he faced and picked up the save.

Mark Teixeira finished off his great spring with a 3-for-3 day. He homered, his third of the spring, and drove in three. In 54 at-bats this spring, Teixeira hit .444/.500/.741 with 3 HR, 11 RBI, and 7 doubles. Nice spring.

Hideki Matsui also had a good day at the plate; he went 2-fo-3 with a homer, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored.

Nick Swisher, Cody Ransom, and Todd Linden drove in the Yankees other three runs.

The Yankees finished with the best record in the Grapefruit league, going 22-10. And you know what that means. Absolutely nothing.
