5/16 Minor League Report

(AAA) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (25-10) was postponed.

Notes: Scranton played a doubleheader last night against
Charlotte and swept the two games. They won the first game 1-0 behind a strong performance from George Kontos. He went 5.1 shutout innings, allowing just two hits, walking three, and striking out six. Mark Melancon closed out the game with 1.2 scoreless. In game two the Yanks pitched another shutout, winning 3-0. Kei Igawa was the star of this one, going 5.2 innings, allowing five hits, struck out six, and did not walk a batter. David Robertson picked up the save in that one. Austin Jackson went 0-for-4, with two walks, two runs, and a stolen bases - his eighth of the year. ... SWB plays a doubleheader tomorrow against Columbus with Chien-Ming Wang will starting in game one. Like his first rehab start he will be limited to 100 pitches. ... Brian Bruney will also throw an inning tomorrow, possibly at the start of game two.

(AA) Trenton (16-16) was postponed.

Notes:
Trenton beat Binghamton last night 4-2. Zach McAllister pitched very well, allowing just one earned run on six hits, walked one and struck out two in 7 innings. The win improved his record to 2-1.

Last night Tampa swept a doubleheader from Dunedin. They won the first game 3-2 and the second game 5-4. Jesus Montero went 0-for-5, with a walk and an RBI in the two games. Austin Romine had a big game in opener, going 2-for-3 with a homer, a double, and he drove in all three Yankees runs.
