Bruney to Pitch in Scranton Tomorrow, Could Return Tuesday

I mentioned it in the game thread below, but I wanted to give it its own post to make sure everyone saw it. According to MLB.com, Brian Bruney will pitch for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tomorrow against Columbus and could return to the Yankees on Tuesday.

Joe Girardi said that Tuesday was "realistic" and that he'll be back as long and "he feels good and throws the ball well."

Bruney, who has been New York's usual setup man, said he threw close to 100 percent in Friday's 35-pitch session and was confident in how his arm feels.

"I feel as good as I can right now," the reliever said. "I was getting after it [on Friday]."

Bruney has made no secret of his frustrations in a tedious rehab of rest and ice, and was anxious to get back into the bullpen on Tuesday and avoid making multiple rehab appearances.

"That's my goal," he said. "But that's the manager's decision. [But] I guess it is my decision, because if I throw well, then it probably will only be one [game]."

It's pretty obvious how important Bruney's return is for the Yankees. Their bullpen has been one of the weaker areas of the team with Bruney being one of the few bright spots, and now they'll finally have someone reliable to get the ball to Mo.

Great News, Bruney might be the most important yankee who is on the disabled list.

Getting Bruney in the 8th, then you can use Coke and Albaledejo in 7th it will make the whole pen stronger.

Aceves needs to be in the conversation for the 7th. He does what a lot of people in that pen can't do, and that's throw strikes.

The bullpen seems to be getting better. Aceves, Coke, Bruney and Mo are pitching well.

Veras and Ramirez need to get themselves straightened out.

Veras and Ramirez need to be off the team.

Veras has no control and Ramirez always walks the first batter he faces. They are a joke.
