News & Notes
- CC Sabathia has made 12 career starts against the Angels, and he's 5-5, with a 4.48 ERA. He did not face them last season.
- Angels' starter Matt Palmer is a 30-year-old rookie and is making his second start of the season. He spent a little time with the San Francisco Giants last year, and had an 8.53 ERA in three games.
- Robinson Cano has an 18-game hitting streak going, which ties his career high, and has hit safely in 22 of the 23 games this year. It's also worth noting that he ended last season on an 11-game hitting streak. Whatever Kevin Long did, seems to be working.

- During the Yankees current four-game winning streak they are hitting .486 with RISP. In the previous four games - all losses - they only hit .156 with RISP.
- Brian Cashman told the media today that Chien-Ming Wang will throw 50 pitches in an extended spring training game today.
- Here's a video I found on Youtube of Posada's walk off single from last night (WARNING: It gets loud)(I have no idea who those people at the end are):

just tuning in, why the hell are the bases loaded in the 2nd inning?
WHAT I WANNA KNOW, I HAVE THE MLB PACKAGE, AND THE FREAKING GAME IS BLACKED OUT, TOTAL BULLSHIT, & CC HAD BETTER SHOW UP TODAY, YOU f*&^ING BLIMP...
So the seats in the Main are completely as fantastic as I expected. I have some photos from my seats in the 9th row. I also did some scouting in the area and have some good points of data to know.
First off - lower number seats in the row are toward the outfield, higher number seats toward the infield. So one would want higher number seats.
Row 12 is about where shelter from the over hang starts. So if you expect a change of rain like last night, you might want to keep that in mind.
The plexyglass at the base of the stairs is completely moronic and only leads to blocked views. I once thought it was there to protect people from line drive fouls - but its not lined up that way - Im guessing maybe its a precaution in case some drunk fool falls down the last stair and this would prevent them from going over the edge. Whatever the case it absolutely ruins the view for a couple seats in on the first row, and 4 seats in one the second row. So if the row has seats 1-25 you wouldnt want a seat higher than 20 or 21.
The last rows of the main - row 25 I think (?) - are still great views. But the noise and riff raff of the concourse is much too annoying. I would always want to be at least 4 rows in from the concourse. I moved to row 18 when it started raining in the 6th and the views were still very good.
As good as the views are in the back and middle of the Main, the closest rows are Amazing! You are very close - higher than the field level of the old park of course, but much closer than many of the field seats in the old park. These are outstanding value if you can get a ticket from $50 - $100.
all NY games are blacked out on MLB. MLB tv seems to suck as far as I can tell if one is looking for a way to watch your favorite hometown team online. and unfortunately YES hasn't clued into selling subscriptions online yet either.
my comments about seat numbers related to the first base side, this may be the opposite on the 3rd base side.
CAN ANYONE DO THE RESEARCH AND TELL ME CC'S LOWEST PICTCH COUNT GAMES, HE SEEMS TO LABOR THRU EVERYTHING...
87 PITCHES THRU 5.1 INNINGS FOR C.C. PATHETIC...
Tex needs benched, he sucks something awful,
I agree about Tex. He's trying entirely too hard to destroy the ball, rather than just getting a base hit. If he shortened up his swing and relaxed a bit he'd be hitting at least 100 points higher.
Give him some time on the bench to relax and realize he doesn't have to park it every at bat.
the Angels and their fucking 2 out hits w RISP.. every goddamn game
im not sure we have another big comeback in our bones
Tex's problems are the result of negligence by Girardi and his coaching staff. Tex is a premier hitter, fundamentally there is nothing wrong with him, so this means it's something that's hard for himself to be aware of - that being mechanics. It's hard for a player to fix his mechanics on their own. This is WHY teams have coaches and managers. Girardi and the coaching staff are seemingly out to lunch half the time on the struggles of their players.
If May is not outstanding for the Yankees I think Girardi is out of here.
CC is out of excuses. He's going to find pitching in Yankee Stadium isn't fun if he can't get through 7 innings without blowing games.
Nice going Girardi. Posada is such a clutch hitter.
i hated that move pinching hitting for Pena... the kid has been coming through with clutch hits and u take him out.
hopefully tmro we can put some runs up on the board early.. we should have scored more than 1 in the 1st today which would have made this a totally different game
Drew, did you miss last night's game?
Today obviously sucks, and CC and Teixeira have been walking disasters, but they're still up 2-1 on the series and they have a chance tomorrow to take the series 3-1. If any Yankee fan wouldn't take that heading into the series they're stupid. You rarely sweep four game series.
If you want to complain about things complain about CC, Teixeira, and you can add Veras, and Damon's defense to that group.
3 albatrosses ( contracts of AFRAUD, CC, & TEX ) are gonna suffocate this team for years to come, mean while in beantown, they draft, scout, & produce better players.....
No, I didn't. I did miss why we had to pull a hot bat. Posada had a money game yesterday but it doesn't warrant pulling Pena.
Drew, I don't disagree that maybe Girardi shouldn't have pinch-hit for Pena, but to imply that Posada is not clutch because of that one at-bat is a bit much.
Nice hit. I rescind my comment entirely.
Rodriguez looks like he pitches for the Yankees.
The one thing the Yankees do need to do is get rid of Veras. Send him down ASAP, he's freaking awful right now and needs to relearn how to throw strikes I can't stand watching him pitch.
You can't say A-Rod's, CC's and Tex's contracts can suffocate the New York Yankees. Not with a $200M-plus payroll. Yes, there is $70M a season locked in these players for the next 7 years, but that leaves $130M to give them teamates (approximatively the Mets or BoSox payrolls).
The Yankees are gonna be fine, even with those big contracts.
And once again, you don't judge a seven or eight year contract on a first month of April.
Today sucked, I think Girardi has to get Sabathia out of these jams when he is at 100-plus pitches, he still hasn't shown he can get out of trouble late in games.
Concerning Tex, I think his problems can be adjusted on the fly. His defense is valuable and he has been in slumps before, and I think he will have a day off soon.
Greg, I saw your cameo on SportsCenter. Can you even go out without wearing sunglasses now? :)
And, has the affluence of the blog increased after that?
Still sad to see only 20 and change comments for a Saturday game here but I believe some of the trolls have discouraged some real Yankee fans to come here and discuss reasonnably the games.
Go Bombers.
And, if you say that Posada is clutch because of one performance is ubsurd. Try watching any big game in the last 5 years. More often than not, he isn't.
I think they'd have to release him since he can't go back down.
Hey Guys, Cartman here, just got back from the game. Well, let me start off by saying Yankee Stadium is really amazing. The Great Hall is truly a site, you just feel so small there. The Yankees museum is overwhelming. The Ball-Wall is out of this world, we looked through all of them and were surprised to see how many greats played here. Thurman Munsons locker was a trip. I did not get to watch him play, but seeing the locker there, and hearing what all the older fans had to say, I was truly touched. It was also pretty cool bc next to Munson's locker was one of the new ones and you could enter your name and number and have a picture taken. To me, Until you really take the time to look at the differences you really feel like your at the old place, of course til you go to the bathroom or concourse, the line differnce and wait time is drastically less.
THE 1st BASE UMP IS ON CRACK! My entire section booed him the whole game. There were 2, 2 strike check swings where the batter obviously, check that, it was painfully obvious that he swung at. Then there was the 3 double play balls, these were bang bang plays but 2 out of 3 looked to be wrong.
Other then the jackass ump it was fun, I suggest if you have the means deffinatly go to a game.

Vinsanity,
"Greg, I saw your cameo on SportsCenter. Can you even go out without wearing sunglasses now? :)
And, has the affluence of the blog increased after that?"hahahahahah,
Actually I have not noticed any increase in traffic after that. Maybe because the idiot said my URL was slidingintohome.com, which it isn't.
"Still sad to see only 20 and change comments for a Saturday game here but I believe some of the trolls have discouraged some real Yankee fans to come here and discuss reasonnably the games."Sadly, I think you're right about the trolls.
