Heyman: Angels Were Very Serious About CC

Yesterday, Jon Heyman posted on his Twitter page that the Angels were big time players in the CC Sabathia sweepstakes. (at-tip to River Ave. Blues.)
very late scoop -- turns out the angels made a $140-million offer to CC. so yanks were wise to go from 140 to 161 mil.
Remember when the Yankees upped their offer from $140 to $161 and all the idiots in the media were saying the Yankees were bidding against themselves? Well, they weren't, so I guess it was a smart move to up the offer.

Thats really just funny I think, cause now thats all 3 players we "bought" this offseason that we didnt overpay. Tex was offered more by the Nationals, and offered face of the franchise, but he came to the yanks. Burnett almost became a Brave, but he chose us. Now to know that CC had a close offer from a winning team as well .. yankee haters keep on hating, we always put together a decent team that could be competitive, and all players know that. Tex said in an interview that if the Yanks were interested at all he wanted to talk to them. Few years back Beltran and Boras came to the yanks and offered to come to us for less than what the mets gave him. There is always interest in any player to put on the pinstripes. Its GREAT !!!

I feel the same way.

Yeah but the majority of the sports media makes you believe the yankees bid against themselves and offered insane money to these players and no other teams were close.

And that's why I call them idiots.
