Joba Pops Blood Vessel, Questionable For Tomorrow

Bob Lorenz on the YES postgame report just said that Joe Girardi told the media after the game that Joba Chamberlain popped a blood vessel in his right thumb and the Yankees are unsure if he can go tomorrow. I know nothing about injuries like this so I'm not going to speculate about anything. All I will say is that I hope he can pitch.

UPDATE 10:22 p.m.: Joe Girardi started off by saying that they "don't think that it will be an issue tomorrow, we really don't." Joba popped the blood vessel today just tossing a ball around, and trainer Gene Monahan treated it and Monahan also believes that Joba will be fine for tomorrow.

you guys that run this blog are great. I'm watching the postgame, and I hear bob lorenz talk about joba bursting the blood vessel in his thumb...i go on here just to check the game's boxscore, and you guys already have the page updated telling people about joba's injury. Injury sucks, but you guys do a great job with updating this blog.

If Joba was in the bullpen he wouldn't of popped a blood vessel.

And I do agree this is the premier yankee blog!

Joba didn't pop the vessel because he's a starter.

And thank you.

And what is that supposed to be?

Why was Kevin Cash not catching Hughes. Cash caught him at Scranton and has much more experience. A horrible decision by Girardi going with an inexperienced pitcher throwing to an inexperienced catcher.

Time to trade Girardi for Lou Pinnela

Is this team cursed or something?

is this girardi running his mouth on injuries again? does he have any communication skills? one minute its "uh oh i don't know if he can pitch" causing everyone and their mother to have a heart attack and then at 10:22 it's "gee it's not a big deal guys"
