New York City will receive $11.5 million from the Yankees in exchange for giving the team rights to sell off seats, signs and other memorabilia from their old ballpark. The article states that seats from Shea stadium are going for $869 per pair, but I've already heard that the Yankee Stadium seats will have a $1,500 price tag. Based on that bit of info, I don't think much of this stuff is going to be too affordable. But ignoring the potential high price, if you could own one piece of memorabilia from the old stadium what would it be?After two homestands at the new Yankee Stadium dominated by home runs and empty seats near the field, the Yankees and Steiner Collectibles scheduled a news conference for Tuesday to announce memorabilia sales and prices for the original Yankee Stadium, including sod and dirt plus bricks from Monument Park.
"The city's agreement with the Yankees will generate much-needed revenue for the city and offer fans a chance to own some of the famed Yankee Stadium history," New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in a statement Monday.
..."The value of the relics of Yankee Stadium is clearly much more than $11.5 million," he said in a statement. "After a yearlong delay which cost the people of the Bronx access to their parkland, the deal that has apparently been struck is again an economic victory for the Yankees and an economic defeat to the taxpayers. There is no dispute that the people of the City owned the old Yankee Stadium, and there is no reason to cap their economic gain at $11.5 million. We also believe an appraisal was required before the deal could be struck, and it is not clear that any such appraisal was done."

anything for a buck, makes me ill.
Yea, i bet the bricks end up like 500-800 easy. It is a joke, no way should it be like that ... i hope they don't sell shit, which obviously some people will buy. I just hope some are smart enough to say "screw that". Then Trost and Levine eat shit, I have met Levine and he is a prick, he has an apartment in NYC but he also has a "summer" house up in pawling NY
The Yankees are selling pairs of seats for $1,923, a nod to the year the original Yankee Stadium opened.

Things sure have come a long way, M-Rod.
But isn't there anything you guys would want from the old stadium if money was no object?
I guess if I had the money to blow I would buy some seats. I had an English teacher in high school that had a room with a TV and 4 seats from the original stadium. He would only let 4 people in there during the game, and someone had to leave before another could enter. I always thought that would be a cool thing to have in my house.
They should have organized a lottery at like $20 a ticket for the seats since their should be 10 times more people wanting them than actual seats.
And then they would have given that money to charity.
That would have made them look good and made seats affordable for the average Joe.
But recently, the Yankees front office never seams to have the right idea.
Go Bombers anyway.
if a dump like Shea seats are going for $870 than the yankee stadium seats should go for $1500
i want the letters above the stadium! lol
its almost to the point that I cant afford to be a yankees fan! It makes me so sick how expensive EVERYTHING IS! To go to a game, to have a piece of the stadium, to have an autograph from a player!!! Is anybody else that sick of it?
I think the should sell George's balls. The Yankees are using them anymore!
