6/14 Minor League Report

We are lucky enough to have a SWB report from BigGuy tonight.
He won't be doing these all the time by when he does I will
post them. Thanks BG for the great contributions.

(Triple-A) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (38-25) beat Gwinnett (34-30) 8-2: Box Score - Recap

PITCHING: Sergio Mitre
made his 2nd start at SWB. He got off to a rough start in the bottom of the 1st giving up a double and infield hit. Casey Kotchman, making a rehab start, followed with a RBI on a groundout. 2 more singles scored the 2nd run of the inning. A great catch on an unassisted DP by Juan Miranda saved Mitre from further damage. Braves 2-1 after 1 inning. After the 1st inning Mitre shutout the Braves thru the 7th. Mitre picked up the win (1-0). Mitre's line: 7.0 IP, 2 runs, 7 hits, 5 K--0 walks, 88 pitches--61 strikes, 9 groundouts--5 flyouts.

BULLPEN: Edwar Ramirez
pitched scoreless 8th and 9th innings allowing a single each innings, picking up 2 strikeouts. Ramirez hasn't allowed a run his last 8.1 innings, with 3 hits, 10 K--0 walks.

OFFENSE:
The Yanks broke out to a quick 1-0 lead in the 1st. Kevin Russo singled, Austin Jackson was hit by a pitch, Shelley Duncan picked up the RBI with a single. In the 3rd, SWB added 3 runs to take a 4-2 lead. Jackson singled, Duncan RBI double, Juan Miranda single, Justin Leone RBI double, Eric Duncan RBI sac fly. The Yanks added 3 more runs in the 4th on Cody Ransom's 3-run homer to give SWB a 7-2 lead. The Yanks added am unearned run in the 6th without a hit when Russo walked, stole 2nd (6), moved to 3rd on Jackson's deep flyout, and scored on an error to make it 8-2.

NOTES:
SWB took 3 of 4 from Gwinnett and were 5-3 on the road trip. Shelley Duncan had 2 more RBI to give him 61 on the year.

Mitre could be an interesting option if he continues to perform well.

I agree, I just don't know where he fits in as a starter.

That could be a problem, I wonder if they turn him into a late inning guy. Get rid of Tomko.
