(Triple-A) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (39-25) beat Toledo (28-36) 1-0: Box Score - Recap
PITCHING: Josh Towers got the start for the Yankees and shutout the Mud Hens for 6 innings on 2 hits. The only real jam he had was in the 4th inning when he gave up a leadoff double. Towers got the next 3 batters to get out of the jam. He also gave up leadoff walks in the 1st and 6th, but worked out of trouble. A single in the 3rd was the only other hit he gave up and that was wiped out with a doubleplay. Towers left the game with a 1-0 lead and picked up the win (2-4). Tower's line: 6.0 IP, 0 runs, 2 hits, 5 K's--3 walks, 92 pitches--57 strikes, 10 groundouts--3 flyouts.
BULLPEN: Anthony Claggett came on to pitch a perfect 7th after a rain delay, picking up a strikeout. Claggett threw a scoreless 8th giving up a walk and picking up his 2nd strikeout.
Jonathan Alabaladejo pitched a perfect 9th. He retired the first 2 batters on 2 pitches, a bunt out and ground out to 3rd. He picked up a strikeout to end the game. Albabledjo picked up the save (1).
OFFENSE: SWB broke out to a 1-0 lead in the 4th. Eric Duncan singled, Chris Stewart followed with a RBI double. Duncan's single snapped an 0-17 string. The Yankees blew a great scoring chance in the 1st inning. Kevin Russo had a leadoff walk followed by Austin Jackson's double, but were stranded at 2nd & 3rd when Toledo's starter Lucas French struck out Shelley Duncan, Juan Miranda and Justin Leone.
NOTES: Austin Jackson's double and 2 singles gave him 22 mult-hit games. Jackson is now batting .345. Chris Stewart had a double and single. Kevin Russo singled and walked. Eric Duncan singled and scored the only run of the game.
