CC Sabathia lowered the anxiety level in the Yankees' universe when he told The Post he will take the ball this weekend when the Subway Series shifts to Citi Field.Sabathia dismissed the idea that the tendinitis had anything to do with his heavy workload down the stretch last year with the Brewers."I am pitching Friday," Sabathia predicted about facing the Mets.
"No, that's not it," Sabathia said of the Brewers, who knew their chances to retain the free agent hurler were slim, riding him hard down the stretch, something Sabathia volunteered for. "It could be the 120 pitches this year."
The plan Sunday was for Sabathia to receive treatment today at Turner Field but because the Braves played the Cubs in a makeup game, the trainer's room wasn't available.
...
"Nothing today, no tests, nothing," said Sabathia, who spent the off day with his family in Buckhead.
Asked when he would throw, Sabathia said, "It feels good, I am going to throw a bullpen (today)."
Asked if he was experiencing the dreaded "dead arm" sensation pitchers get during spring training around the 100-inning mark, Sabathia said that was possible.Let's just hope this isn't something that lingers.
"It feels dead but it's only achy, no pain at all," Sabathia said. "It gets sore between starts but never before in the game. I didn't get (dead arm) in spring training."
