- In his career against the Rangers, A.J. Burnett is 2-2, with a 4.02 ERA. His last start came against Texas, and it was a very good performance. In six innings he allowed no runs on three hits, walked four and struck out seven.
- Vincente Padilla has made three starts against the Yankees in his career and is 1-1, with a 5.51 ERA. In his only start at the old stadium, he went 1-0, with a 2.70 ERA, allowing two runs on three hits, walked three and struck out six in 6.2 innings pitched. In 2008 he made one start against them and took a no decision. In six innings he allowed four runs on eight hits, walked two, and struck out five.

I would really love for the Gate to remain. I mean, that building was a Home for Millions of people, it would only be right to leave a piece there to remind us of our youth.

I had the same reaction JC, 1st Swisher sends one to CF in Cleveland, which was a bomb. Then the next game, he misses a GS by a foot. And gets to sit today? I question moves like this from Girardi sometimes.
Upon further review it's gotta be his numbers against Padilla. I didn't even notice that until you said something JC. That's gotta be it.
My biggest complaint about Girardi is that he plays and sits certain people at really weird times.
I see now that Swish isn't great against Padilla. But seriously...it's freakin' Padilla. Swisher has been swinging a hot bat and should be playing. You don't sit a guy right when he's starting to heat up.
UPDATE, 5:05 p.m.: Hey, Pete again. Just had to mention this. I’m getting a lot of “Why isn’t Swisher starting? Girardi is a idiot” e-mails from people.
Listen, I love people who read my blog. Here’s to you. But stop thinking you know more about the Yankees than Girardi. Swisher is 1 for 15 against Padilla with five strikeouts. He’s 0 for his last 12 with four strikeouts and a GIDP.
Swisher finally seems to have his swing intact. Why screw him up against a pitcher he obviously can’t hit? Let Gardner start and when the Rangers go to the bullpen, you have Swisher ready and waiting for an at-bat or two.

I agree that it's not really a big deal. And I also agree that people on fan forums like to blame the manager way too much. That's why I usually don't post on big sports blogs. (And why I kinda like this smaller, yet fun crowd here.)

I had a lengthy arguement with one of my friends about this; who is a Met fan. We agreed to disagree.
He said that New Yankee was a "Corporate heaven of greed and wrong." But really did not have much to say other then that. His tune changed when we went to a game, but was back the next morning.
I went to Citi, I just feel like its a shrine to something thats not the Mets. I mean, Its got the whole Ebbets and Polo feel going on, which is not the Mets, Its got the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, which baffles me. I understand that its Jackie Robinson, but he was a Dodger, shouldn't something like that be left to the team he played for? And Citifield over all just felt dark.I told him all that and argued for hours, he tried to make some "well the dodgers were ny national league and so are the mets.." and so on.
I just feel like for Baseball, Yankee Stadium is the place to be. For history, Yankee Stadium is the place. Its a shrine to the past. I feel like Citi is a rip-off machine, which really only appeals to families. I found the environment pretty bad for my tastes, and probably won't go back there again.

Padilla has been doing this for years. I remember a couple years ago he threw at someone who hit a homer against him the inning before and missed....so he threw it right at him again on the next pitch.

Jorge is a great all time yankee. But it was tough to watch him try to throw out those runners. The rangers were really testing him. Also Jorge made a huge baserunning mistake. Its funny how the game turned out in the beginning it was looking like a tough game for Burnett and Posada but that certainly changed.

Nice game from Gardy he now has higher OBP than Jacoby Ellsbury. He always seems to be scoring runs. He is a perfect 9 hole hitter. Also the outfield defense with Gardner and Melky is very good.
