News & Notes
- In 20 starts against the Rangers Andy Pettitte is 9-8, with a 5.50 ERA. He has not faced the Rangers this season, but in one start last year he went 0-1, with a 9.00 ERA. In five innings he allowed five runs on six hits, walked three and struck out five.
- Scott Feldman has made three appearances (two starts) against the Yankees and he's 1-1, witha 4.15 ERA. Last season he started against them twice, and went 1-1, with a 2.13 ERA.
- Mark Teixeira was scratched from tonight's game because of a bruised right ankle. He hurt the ankle last night while taking out Elvis Andrus. According to Peter Abraham, the x-rays were negative and he's listed as day-to-day.
- Derek Jeter has hit safely in 16 straight games.
- The Yankees have won 16 of their last 20 games, and five of their last six.
- As mentioned earlier, Chien-Ming Wang will start tomorrow and Phil Hughes is headed to the bullpen. Apparently the move is just a temporary fix for the pen and the Yankees still consider Hughes a starter in the long-run.

Teixiera's been scratched...right ankle bruise...day to day...
Damn it.
New lineup
Jeter SS
Swisher RF
Damon LF
Rodriguez 3B
Cano 2B
Posada C
Matsui DH
Cabrera RF
Gardner CF
I doubt they play tonight though. Texas does have another series with the yankees at the stadium this year.
It's been posted Anon. Thanks.
I'm just so thrilled every night to see this lineup that Teixeira scratched seems terrible to me, even if it's not that big of a deal.
If the Yankees lose, look for some "Teixeira dependence" talks to start. :)
Anyone going to the game?
Go Bombers.
The weather isn't so bad.
40% rain @ 7
30% rain @ 8
20% rain @ 9
30% rain @ 10
Then it gets bad:
55% rain @ 11
70% from 12-2
thats a lot of RFs
so tonight would be the opposite of a value night. i didnt check prices, but who would want to site in this schlock. since you still have to pay $10 a beer.
btw - after being at the stadium again last night, I have to say, the food selection sucks on the Main level. going down to the field level is a huge haul, it took me more than an inning to go down and get garlic fries, and the ramp back up is a marathon. i think food selection on the tier is better.
and the music/P.A. system is freaking annoyingly loud. they have all this stupid yankee history crap blaaaaring at you pre-game. and then its music insanity between innings. they need to shut up. it would be nice if the fan sites could get a campaign together to get the fans organized to pressure the yankees to turn this crap down.
sitting in the Main level however is just gold, everywhere. had great views last night from 209. if youre in the first 10 rows your very close. its like the old upper deck, but lower.
Yea Will, the PA is way too loud and it takes a lot away from the experience if you ask me.
oh - btw here is a fun story on gate policy. so we say two kids get denied entry because they had backpacks. we sent them over to stans to check their luggage.
meanwhile, we then get in a beer line, and this NJ princess has a saddle bag fit for a mule. the backpack policy is loony toons.
we bring a tote bag to the game, which holds a ton shit, and they hardly check it, they feel the bottom a little. this time in addition to some clothes we brought a bad of green snap peas to munch on between heart killing hotdogs (yeah, i know vegetables are gay, but whatever)
so we now have a bigger plan for next time we go.
we're going to try to step up the self brought meal. we're thinking maybe smoked salmon with some toast bits and some cream cheese and lemon and capers. fuck those legends people, they're not the only ones who are going to eat gourmet. we figure we can slip all this stuff into ziplocks or other soft containers that will get through the gate.
if anyone has other ideas too, I'm taking menu suggestions.
yah, the PA so sucks because one of the great experiences of being at the game is chatting up the hooligans sitting next to you. not to mention just being able to kick back and relax with a beer and a dog on a warm night.
Even without Teixeira, the lineup is still strong.
And yes the PA is way too loud.
I think they'll get the game in.
Damn Johnny... terrible.
Minimize the damage, Andy.
Is Andy just being too weary of the stadium...
It's possible Dane.
Pettitte really looks like shit tonight. And Posada can't throw.
Pettitte:
Home: 5 games started, 5.57
Away: 5 games started, 2.59
Posada's getting abused.
Get Pettitte out of the rotation please, Dudes always giving up a heap a runs, its old.
Why the hell do teams ever bring the infield in unless one run wins the game?
I've never understood that. All you do is make it easier for the other team to have a big inning.
New plan. Warm up Wang. Start Hughes tomorrow. Then Sit Pettitte for a week.
Slow down Anon, it's one bad game.
No, its multiple bad games at Yankee Stadium. He cant pitch here, he mentally beats himself and he's afraid to throw the high pitch here. He's getting very frustrating to deal with. Denying 8million was a gift, we should have left it there.
But they're not going to take him out of the rotation, it's silly to even suggest it. He is going to have to stop fearing the long ball at NYS, though, cause like Dane said that's probably hurting him.
combined the two teams might score 10-12 runs tonight.
Luckily there's a ton of rain coming so hopefully this game will get rained out before the fifth.
Andy at Yankee Stadium so far.
Vs. Oakland on 4/21. 7 innings, 9 hits, no walks, no strikeouts.
Vs. LAA on 5/01. 5.2 innings, 9 hits, 5 earned runs, 4 walks, 2 strikeouts.
Vs. TB on 5/07. 6 innings, 9 hits, 5 earned runs, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts.
5/18 Vs MIN. 6.2 innings, 12 hits, 4 earned runs, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts.
5/23 Vs PHI. 7 innings, 5 hits, 4 earned runs, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts.
Then theres Tonight.
Numbers are not pretty in my eyes.
Fine, he's been bad at the new stadium, but unless he's hurt he's not going to be taken out of the rotation.
2 earned against Oakland. I'll find out how many homers hes let leave the place
its at least another hour before the rain really sets in. petite should actually walk more batters, not less.
I know he wont leave the rotation, thats why I stated, "new plan" and then "sit him for a week"
i think it was a bad move letting him start after he had to leave early after a Balky back...it's not like we don't have the extra starter to take his spot.
Right now, the only thing I've rooting for is the rain.
uh oh, this is trouble.
Oh, I didn't see that message. My bad.
Will,
Like I said, I'm rooting for the rain.
Pettites allowed 8 homers on the season, 7 have came at the stadium.
4 allowed against Tampa, 1 against Minnesota and 2 against Philly.
guess his fear is justified. lol
I could strike out less than Davis...
then again, who hasn't allowed a boat load of homers at the stadium this season?
Gutsy inning.
this yankee lineup is not bad, even with Tex out, its pretty rough on a pitcher through almost the whole order. Cabrera at .312 is in the 8th slot, that's not really fair. The only break a pitcher gets is Gardner.
watch this guy walk the only doof in the lineup.
hahahahaahaha!
lol... Gardner ain't so bad either.
CC's allowed 4.
AJ's allowed 6.
Joba has allowed 3.
Pettitte has allowed 7.
Wangs allowed 2.
Hughes has allowed 5.
These are at the stadium only.
Anon, where'd you get those numbers?
CC's allowed one homer at the stadium, and Burnett has allowed seven. At least that's what Baseball-Reference says.
no bullshit, with this dork tossing all fastballs Swisher better loft this somewhere and get the run in.
Feldman is scared too.
It's becomes a big deal in the media so I'm sure these pitchers are thinking about it on the mound.
lol - they want to roll ball to the plate, they can't get the pitches low enough.
Anyone else notice the lights behind the foul poul are never on...
can you believe this, bases loaded, 1 out, not a hit in the inning, and only 3 pitches have made contact.
That reminded me... Salty's married to a milf... lik 14 years older than him... taught at his HS.
F.
that was fucking rediculous. Arod has really failed of late with the base jacked.
The lights probably were bothering the hitters or something.
Wow A-Rod, that at-bat was pathetic.
Can Cervelli play 3rd?
Way to go GAYrod. What a stroke. But, this is nothing unusual. We are used to it. Frankly, we are used to this garbage with many Yankee hitters.
jesus h! the guy cant throw a strike, you're up 3-1 with basesloaded. unless that shit is your money pitch you take it, make that bastard throw it over the plate. at best its GOT to be a high pitch you can loft for the sac fly. wtf?
The second pitch he missed was a grand slam on a platter...
Anon about me, kill yourself.
Cervelli is not starting over Arod at any point...ever.
So where's that rain?
could there be more fucking posts at that time
way to go andy, walk happy tonight?
Anon he's trying to stretch it out till the rain comes - after what he just saw happen he knows its his best shot to get out of this.
I wonder if at any point, if we are in striking distance, if we see Tex pinch hit. You could move Posada to 1st, and bring Cervelli in.
After that A-Rod DP I really don't even want to watch anymore.
Posada really sucks at life.
Mauer can't get here soon enough...
five walks, FIVE! you suck at locating strike zone.
Doesnt Reggie Jackson try to coach Arod or anything on how to be a man? or has he moved on to just working with Tex? Jesus, im still shocked by that at bat.
Fuck Mauer. I'm happy with Cervelli.
It's just a typical example of him trying to do too much. All he had to do was stand there with the bat on his shoulder and take the walk. He wanted to be the hero and hit the homer so now he's the goat.
Holy crap, really?..., Tomko. He has not got regular work of late, this might be ugly if he works his way in.
Beckett's got a no-hitter through 6.
the goat is Pettitte. 5 Walks, thats not good over 90 pitches in the 4th...
not a quality start.
I saw that... ugh.
Becketts got Herpes.
Shoulda went and had Kate kiss his bat... that shoulda done something.
I'm just referring to that play, not the game.
We gotta come back and win this. Boston is winning 4-0 in the 7th.
We be the RaIn
WOW! Holy crap, walks the bases loaded, and gets lucky on the play. FuCK!
It better not be that Pettitte's feeling something in his back... considering their situation, he should know better.
I saw someone suggesting Pettitte is making the start and possibly hiding and injury due to time spent on the roster and IP.
That wouldn't surprise me at all.
I think I caught it over at RAB.
Based on the satellite it looks like it's going to start raining at ten and won't stop until 7 a.m., so the Yankees better score some runs fast.
weather pattern has shifted northward more, there is a gap nyc is in and could remain in for hours until the real deluge arrives. the batters better wake up. there will be no rainout.
Rain arrival fail...
http://riveraveblues.com/2009/05/pettittes-back-and-an-incentive-laden-deal-12421/
Beckett's no-no was broken up by Granderson... about time...
thank god we wont have to endure Peter Gammons masturbating over a beckett no-no on bbt
Still mad over A-Rod's swinging strike at a perfect ball to smash.
Beckett is Punk. I just want to smash him in the head with an aluminum bat, then repeatedly kick him in the face, knocking all his teeth out.
whoa, that was a little violent, guess its my hate for the Sox.
Andy sucks! Done.... But what other choices do we have?
Mike
Will, where are you seeing a window of clear weather? On Weather.com it looks like it's going to rain from 10 on.
How is a 4.40 ERA, done?
http://media2.myfoxny.com/weather/forecasts/MyForecasts/yankeestadium.html
Eli is in the house! Hopefully he brings us some luck.
the satellite just looked to me like the hotspots where starting to drift more northward; seemed like me might catch the edge of it, but could be just light rain that they'll play through. the real gnarly stuff is down around philly.
but really, im no weather man.
Hasn't worked so far.
You may not be a weatherman, but from what you just said you clearly know more than I do so I'll take your word for it.
We are going to get slammed with Rain either way, storms shaped like a horse-shoe, we are in the path.
It's really not hard to figure out why people hate this guy.
killi;n me here arod, fuckin' killin' me
They really suck tonight. Glad it's a quick turn around with the day game tomorrow.
Most Over Paid Athlete in baseball is Alex Rodriguez.
fuck, no, i dont get off til 4!
if arod is going to suck he could at least learn to suck spectacularly like this http://z.hubpages.com/u/16826_f260.jpg
We still have a chance guys.
Hitters are .350 when hitting
agianst Feldman the 3rd time around, and we've had a lot of late inning rallies this year.
That's true YB, I respect your optimism.
Someone needs to hit one out.
LIKE THAT!
Nice! Jorge makes up for the terrible throws again.
this game should be tied - sour grapes
Alright... Tying run at the dish.
Do they PH Tex?
Can he run?
LETS GO JETER!!!!!
or do your best arod impersonation.
Jeter's funny when he does those jacknifes and then doesn't understand why it was a called strike.
You get the feeling this game is going to come down to A-Rod up as the winning run and he's either going to hit a homer or strike out.
Impressive work by Tomko.
ok yankees could load the bases then get three outs, no runs in the 8th, then load the bases again, get two outs, and the final at bat would be... ARod.
lol good point Will. He could come up as the tying or lead run this inning, though.
A-Rod is 0-for-7 against Wilson in his career.
Wait, I'm confused. If we loose Boston will be tied for 1st with us? Is that right?
Right.
good battle by damon
Come on A-Rod!!!!
BOOOOOOOOO
If he throws his a breaking ball he's dead.
See.
holy crap. well, that sucked.
Cano has to stop watching the play and just put his head down and run. He's slowing himself down a lot.
i hope they bring in another pitcher, wilson is killing us.
Yup, Frank Francisco and his 0.48 ERA.
man these ticket holders are insane on stubhub. 1pm weekday game, the weather is supposed to by 65 crappy degrees and cloudy as hell, 3730 tickets available, and the prices are stupidly unattractive. all these tickets should be half these prices.
dat dat da da da
well that sucked, they need to make up for blowing that game with another 10 game winning streak or something.
CJ Wilson and Francisco are nasty. Yanks cant be down against texas in the 8th and 9th.
Watching Posada, Cano, Matsui, Swisher and A-Rod running to first we might have the slowest team in baseball.
But the yankees have been playing great baseball cant win them all.
Arod looks really slow, this allegid surg is gunna be his excuse all yr...
Got to love the reaction to Pettitte not pitching a good game. Whenever he has a tough outing everybody talks about how he battled.
Just admit it he was bad today too many walks.
Well, he did battle. The way he pitched tonight he should have given up 7 or 8 runs.
A-Rod sucks on the clutch, as we've known for a while. Perhaps he'll start to do better, but we've seen no indications of that so far....
Andy's just so erratic, I feel he can't be counted on. I don't live in the past, and what he did years ago carries little weight with me. Right now, I have little confidence in him. No big deal--it's just my opinion.
Mike
MELKY DOES IT AGAIN!!!
damn... wrong thread lol
