News & Notes

UPDATE 12:36 p.m.: According to Peter Abraham, Brian Bruney is scheduled to throw two 15-pitch simulated innings tomorrow. The Yankees will then see how he feels after that and decide the next step. Peter said that "if he gets through that OK, he may be only a week away."

“My elbow is fine,” Bruney said. “My body is a little out of whack because I haven’t pitched much. But I feel good.”

- CC Sabathia is 7-1, with a 2.44 ERA in 11 career starts against the Rays, but this will be the first time he's faced them since the 2007 season when he went 1-0, with a 2.45 ERA in three starts.

He's been on fire lately, in his last five starts he's 4-1, with a 2.08 ERA. In 39 innings he's allowed 9 runs on 26 hits, walked 9 and struck out 32. And in those starts opponents are hitting just .187 against him.

- Today will be David Price's fourth big league start. He's 1-0, with a 2.51 ERA over his first three, and in 14.1 innings he's allowed four earned runs on 13 hits, walked 10 and struck out 20.

- Forgot to mention this in the series preview, but Evan Longoria has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury. He hopes to return to the lineup today.

- The Yanks enter play today a half game in front of the Red Sox in the AL East.

Not trying to show you up or anything Greg, but isn't Swish in right today?

Greg Cohen said...

Hey YB,

Yea, he's in right. I copied that from Pete Abe. He has two first baseman as well. Anyway, it's been fixed.

Mario said...

someone answer me, why is the game blacked out on both YES & the foxsports florida channel on my directv mlb package ( better known as a monopoly) fucking joke, is what it is...well we should play 2 today, too many games already rained out to be made up, speaking of made up games, i'll be coming to NY to see the make up game sept 14 via amtrak from NC...can't wait...

Greg Cohen said...

Mario, I have no idea.

I have Direct TV on one of my sets in Jersey and everything is fine.

Will said...

LETS GO VERAS!

Greg Cohen said...

Hahahaha

Will said...

Greg - I have a guest blog post for you. Its about five sentences. Here it is:

The Tampa Bay Rays are an embarrassment to baseball. They play in a crappy ball park with even crappier fan support, it is time for them to be moved. Where? Mexico City. Mexico is the next logical place for MLB to go as it broadens its international appeal, and Mexico City is the largest city in North America. This would require a little division shuffling, but this would be pretty painless. Move them to the west, perfect rivals for Texas and Anaheim, and if the Yankees want 5 teams in the east move Cleveland to the eastern division. This makes more sense and would be a lot more exciting than watching a world series team draw 20 fans every game to play in a parking garage for 10 more years.

Greg Cohen said...

Hahahahaa, awesome job Will.

daneptizl said...

According to Gameday... Zobrist should have struck out... but he walked...

Will said...

its sort of yankees related, they play in the same division and are in town, and the yankees have to play in that ugly cave 14 games a year.

and how jazzed would every urban center in america be when Mexico City came to play the home team. the marketing windfall in the hispanic demographic would be off the charts. the NFL would drool, and its hard to top the NFL at anything marking related.

daneptizl said...

There we go, Alex...

Greg Cohen said...

Yea Dane, that looked like a strike to me too.

... AN A-BOMB, FROM A-ROD!!!

... You know Will, if there's a Canadian team (were two) there's no reason why Mexico shouldn't have a team too, well, besides swine flu.

Will said...

my god, not another home run at yankee stadium. they should stop this game right now and play the rest of the season at citifield until the outfield wall can be moved across river avenue. i hate home runs. even more than I hate puppies.

daneptizl said...

So much for Robbie's OBP...

Greg Cohen said...

Great sign to see A-Rod go the other way. He may be ready to go on a tear.

Anonymous said...

Did I really just hear YES say that Jorge Posada has the "boom boom pow"?

Will said...

Toronto is a very successful franchise.

( despite playing in that salad bowl pos, man the sky dome was the most depressing thing I ever had to accept back as a jays fan, it was lessened by them winning two worlds series just after it opened )

the expos where a poorly run franchise, and ironically I think they suffered from playing in a parking garage just as the Rays do.

Mexico City could obviously support two franchises. How soon would the Padres like to move?

Puerto Rico might be able to support a franchise too.

Greg Cohen said...

Yes, Anon, I believe you did. YES just quoted the Black Eyed Peas

crossfire said...

Quick question... anyone know if a make up date for last night's rainout scheduled yet?

Greg Cohen said...

Nope, not yet.

crossfire said...

Thanks Greg.

Greg Cohen said...

No problem.

crossfire said...

Nice catch by the Captain.

Greg Cohen said...

I've never defended his defense, but the guy is having a great year at short so far.

... An CC is dealing.

daneptizl said...

A-Rod's got 7 homers at home and 1 away..

Greg Cohen said...

Most of his homers at the new place would have been gone anywhere, so it's not the jet stream's fault.

daneptizl said...

No, I know... I was just looking to see if that was his first homer to right, but it was his second...

Greg Cohen said...

I'm just joking around because of all the new stadium/bandbox talk.

Yea, the homer against Lidge was to right field.

Greg Cohen said...

Aybar probably could have had him. Still, good job by A-Rod.

daneptizl said...

All kinds of fail...

Greg Cohen said...

Freakin' Bad News Bears.

daneptizl said...

If that's how Damon throws with his dominant arm... you have to wonder if his right arm would rival a 12 year olds....

Greg Cohen said...

Navarro is having a heck of a game.

daneptizl said...

I wonder who'll turn you better... Cervelli or Navarro..

Emmanuel said...

Damn Melky took a shot to the face. That's really takin one for the team.

Emmanuel said...

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greg Cohen said...

A-Rod has zero range at third.

Wow, Aybar with the back breaker.

Anonymous said...

Why can't we beat the Rays or Red Sox?

Greg Cohen said...

Because they're good teams?

Anonymous said...

HAHAHAHAHA YOU GUYS STILL SUCK!

Anonymous said...

AT LEAST GREG REALIZES YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN GETTING YOUR ASSES KICKED BY EVERY GOOD TEAM YOU PLAY BESIDES TEXAS, BUT TEXAS WILL END UP UNDER .500 ANYWAY.

Greg Cohen said...

Oh no, not you again.

daneptizl said...

Let's go Swish.

daneptizl said...

Swisher missed the pitch he had to get...

Anonymous said...

Swisher really blows.

Greg Cohen said...

Amazingly, Swisher has actually helped the Yankees more defensively replacing Bobby "No Range" Abreu, than he has at the plate. I really wish Nady never got hurt. He's so much better than Swisher.

Anonymous said...

Nice warning track power jeter.

daneptizl said...

I think it's just frustration talking, because Nady is not so much better than Swisher. Nady maintaining his decent average is what makes people like him.

Will said...

what is this shit? i go to lunch and there is melt down. bring Veras for god's sake!

Greg Cohen said...

No, I'd rather have Nady in my outfield over Swisher. Swisher draws his walks, but he's slow so it's not like he's making things happen when he gets on base. Other than the walks he does nothing well.

daneptizl said...

What does Nady do, but maintain a .280 average?

Greg Cohen said...

All Swisher does is strike out, walk, or hit a homer, and he strikes out more than he does the other two combined.

50 strike outs, 37 walks, 10 HR. He also gets extremely overanxious at the plate and gives away many at-bats cause he's trying to hit the ball 700 FT.

Greg Cohen said...

Honestly, nothing Swisher does impresses me. Besides the full counts, I'll give him that, he works the count constantly.

crossfire said...

Swisher is a real nice bench player.

Will said...

this is it, last stand.

daneptizl said...

I'm not trying to find excuses for Swisher, I'm just saying Nady's not that good as well.

Greg Cohen said...

No, Nady is no all-star or anything like that, I'd just rather him out there everyday instead of Swisher. Girardi was 100% right when he chose Nady to be the everyday RF'er this spring.

Greg Cohen said...

On the other hand, almost everything Mark Teixeira does on a baseball field impresses me. What a blast.

daneptizl said...

I finally got my nickname for Tex... TEXXX

Emmanuel said...

C'on boys, just one more.

Rich said...

Is there anything Teixeira can not do?

Will said...

ok - that works

Greg Cohen said...

And Dane, nothing would make me happier than Nick Swisher hitting a big hit today, tomorrow and the next day. He just frustrates me to no end. I can't stand the way he swings the bat. He swings like every swing is the last swing he'll ever take.

daneptizl said...

That's why I think our number 1 focus this offseason is to get a good young OFer. I'd love Crawford, but trading for someone is fine as well.

Anonymous said...

dammit arod a nice single/double would have been fine there

Greg Cohen said...

Crawford would be such a great signing. I'd love him on the Yankees.

daneptizl said...

Watch Swish come through.

Greg Cohen said...

Is there a reason they're not pinch running for Posada?

Greg Cohen said...

I hope he does, Dane. I really hope he does.

Emmanuel said...

Get ready to get pissed Greg

Will said...

he can work a count.

daneptizl said...

IT'S MELKY TIME!

Greg Cohen said...

Yes, he can. Good job Swisher.

Emmanuel said...

C;mon Frankie

Emmanuel said...

haha whoops forgot about Melky

Emmanuel said...

FUCK YEAH!!!!!

daneptizl said...

Even when Melky does nothing.... he does something...

Greg Cohen said...

OK, he broke up that play too, Swisher deserves all the credit for that.

Will said...

oh shiiiiii, Cabrera. his head will explode if... holy crap

Will said...

milky makes the highlight reel again. why is he batting 8th?

Greg Cohen said...

This is a ballsy move by Girardi, I like it, though, regardless of what happens.

Emmanuel said...

We'll hopefully we have another walk off in our bones.

Greg Cohen said...

Alright, let's hold em right here and win it in the 9th.

daneptizl said...

Meh... at least we tied it... so what happens now, the pitcher hits in the DH spot?

Greg Cohen said...

Yea Dane.

Will said...

"Alright, let's hold em right here"

Bring in Veras!

crap, Rivera.

Greg Cohen said...

Uhhh, Matsu didn't come close to swinging there. Stupid umpires.

Greg Cohen said...

Ah fuck. Comeback only to have Mo blow the game. This game has certainly ruined my Saturday.

daneptizl said...

A toddler crawls faster (and probably throw faster) than Damon ran to that ball... I mean the guy was running on neutral wtf...

Emmanuel said...

Fuck this would suck to be a heartbreaker.

Anonymous said...

They just can't be a good team.

Emmanuel said...

Un-fucking-believable.

Greg Cohen said...

Good job Mo.

Anonymous said...

I am hating Mo a lot this year. Hes given up to many runs.

Will said...

Im afraid angry anon has been right, Rivera is old and simply can't be counted on any more. he's failed to hold a tie several times this season.

Anonymous said...

He really needs to get his act together. I am worried about him, I don't think he'll be our answer next year in the 9th, maybe Joba should just be fucking groomed to close already.

Anonymous said...

Way to go Mo you fucking loser. Mo is not reliable. Mo is not a closer anymore. Get a clue Brian Fuckign Cashman. How many BIG games has Mo blown this year? Hows many runs has he given up? But, he is the only reliable one in the pen is he? Ridiculous. He is the PROBLEM.

daneptizl said...

Mo's throwing his 90-91 again.

Greg Cohen said...

Walk Longoria, don't be stupid.

Anonymous said...

I wouldnt say MO is the Problem because he's not. We use him then dont use him, a lot of his apperances are in bunches, then he'll sit for 4 or 5 games. I just don't think he has much left to offer. Hes been smacked around good this year, even when hes looked good, and quite frankly I've grown frustrated with Mo ever since he made that smirk in Detroit when he gave up a huge bomb...you know which one im talkin bout.

Greg Cohen said...

Fucking shit, that's the ballgame.

Anonymous said...

FUCK YOU MO

crossfire said...

Shit.

daneptizl said...

Good game... or in this case... bad game...

Will said...

can't wait to endure the obligatory post game confession. "I didn't get it done today. I'm supposed to hold the game there and I let my team down. I know it, and all I can do is face it... bla bla bla bla"

confessions of alcoholics.

.

oh, fucking fantastic, Coke, this is now surely over.

Anonymous said...

Seriously. Can we go out and get someone who can pitch out of the Pen?

daneptizl said...

Dave Robertson, son.

Will said...

I'm seriously surprised that its now June and the front office hasn't lifted a finger to get at least someone decent that can come out of the pen. The pen gets murdered by good teams.

Isn't Hughes supposed to throw at the pen? when does that happen, killing these suckers off can't come soon enough.

Anonymous said...

Sick of shit like this. Another case of loyalty to the vets on this team, IT HAS TO FUCKING STOP. Mistake 1. Bringing Matsui in for Cervelli. Mistake 2. Bringing Mo in, Instead of letting CC go back out there.

Girardi is just like Torre. He plays is friends and the guys who have been here forever.

Newsflash for Mo, Your old! Get ready for the door BC Joba is surely going to be taking your spot if you continue to suck dick like this. You suck! Stop giving up runs! Stop coping excuses, your time is done.

Greg Cohen said...

This is becoming embarrassing. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Yankees end up finishing third again behind the Rays and Sox. They can't beat either team anyway.

Will said...

Coke sucks, told you. Veras is the man, should go to him every time.

daneptizl said...

Joba to the rotation 4vr.

But regarding the bullpen... hopefully Girardi/Cashman finally understand that the answer to the bullpen is Melancon and Robertson, not Veras, Coke, etc...

Will said...

Frankly, I would just pitch Veras every day. Even if the Yankees have the day off. His shit is that good.

daneptizl said...

Rivera, Bruney, Marte, Robertson, Melancon, Aceves, Claggett... that's a good bullpen.

Greg Cohen said...

Claggett? Why?

Will said...

Bruney, Marte, Robertson, Melancon, Aceves, Claggett... that's a good bullpen.

fixed

Will said...

what a treat it will be if the lineup gets 3 runs here, just to make the weakness of the pen sting that much more.

Greg Cohen said...

I'd rather them score five.... Just sayin'.

daneptizl said...

Tex: 'This bitch ain't over'

.....now let's see what A-Rod says.

daneptizl said...

I'm not gonna lie... I didn't know who to put in the 7th slot, but Coke had just given up this crap, so I took him off...

Will said...

im a nihilist. best to take the pain and embarrass the front office now rather than september.

come on A-Rod, RBI, do it for Veras!

daneptizl said...

Gardner after A-Rod?

Alex said...

".....now let's see what A-Rod says."

huh?

Anonymous said...

Why hasn't this FO done anything for the BP you ask? Because Brian Cashman sucks and is a horrible GM. They also play favorites with these old men like Jeter, Mo, Matsui and Posada. These players are killing this team and have been for years.

Mo is NOT a closer and hasn't been for a while. Watch and see. Cashman should be retooling this BP right now. Mo could be used in the 6th/7th thats it. Other than buh-bye.

Then again, they dont really want to win. They want to win with old men which is NOT going to happen. Only idiot GM's sign players like Mo, Posada and Arod to those kind of deals. And, watch this off-season that idiot Cashman will do the same to Jeter.

And, Jeter is not a good SS. His defense stinks UNLESS the ball is hit right to him. Other than that he is awful. Yankees = old man team. Thanks to Brian Cashman.

Greg Cohen said...

That was low... should be 3-1 on Posada.

daneptizl said...

A-Rod: No thanks.

Anonymous said...

WTF has Posada done since returning?

Why is this fuckign organization in such a hurry to insert old, garbage players into this lineup when things were fine BEFORE they returned? Absolutely clueless. I hate Posada and can't wait until he retires.

Anonymous said...

We suck huge dick.

Anonymous said...

uhh, Posada is hitting .308 you dumbass

daneptizl said...

Cervelli is garbage compared to Posada.

Greg Cohen said...

I dunno about that, but they haven't beaten good teams. I'm telling you, they're not as good as they've appeared to be lately.

Will said...

VERAS!

daneptizl said...

I disagree. We were without A-Rod the other how many times we faced TB and the Sox and today we lost against their pitcher who has the best stuff. We'll be fine as long as the bullpen is fixed.

Anonymous said...

Who cares what Posada is hitting. Posada sucks when it counts. Just like most of this team. Posada is a GARBAGE catcher with no defense, no signal calling skills and has never done anything. Great he hits when it is 10-0. Whoopppeee deee.

What did the great Posada do in the 9th with a RISP and 1 out? Did his .308 average help him or us? Well, he did swing at ball 4.Nothing unusual about that. Hes a loser like Arod.

What is this Brian Cashman built teams record vs. Bosox and Rays? LOL, Cashman = MORON. There isn't a GM who does less with more.

Anonymous said...

I'll take Cervelli compared to Posada anyday. This isn't 1996. You Yankee fans live in the past. Get rid of Jeter, Matsui, Damon, Posada, Mo.

daneptizl said...

Had it not been for those two errors we made...

Anonymous said...

Good teams destroy the Yankees bullpen. That's why the Yanks won't go anywhere.

Capone said...

When an average team like the Rays commit 4 errors, walk 7 and give away leads...YOU HAVE TO WIN THE FUCKING GAME!!

Greg Cohen said...

I agree with Anon, plus there is no signs that the pen will be fixed. Unless you consider Brian Bruney the fix.

daneptizl said...

So you'll take your chances with Cervelli and his under .300 OBP and .300 slugging?

I'll stick with Posada whose AVERAGE exceeds Cervellis slugging...

daneptizl said...

I'm not disagreeing that the Yankees bullpen is bad, since it's terrible. I'm just saying that in a month when hopefully everyone is healthy, and maybe they've finally brought up Melancon for good, the whole team will be more than solid. Even just Marte and Bruney coming back will be huge.

Greg Cohen said...

But they don't beat good teams. Yanks vs. Red Sox, Phillies, and Rays = 3-11.

Will said...

"hopefully everyone is healthy"

oh great, the yankees are using the obama plan. counting on two injured guys to come back and save the team is a recipe for failure. IMHO.

Greg Cohen said...

What about Obama?

daneptizl said...

.....my goodness... they didn't have A-Rod for 10 of those 14 games. I'm sure if A-Rod is there for the other 10, we win at least two of those, if not more...

daneptizl said...

Will, so you're saying that the Yanks shouldn't have waited for A-Rod to come back and save the team and should have traded for Holliday before the season began?

Will said...

and underscoring this all is that they really intend to throw Wang against the Redsox. it just makes no sense what's so ever. maybe if the guy blanked Texas over 6 or 7 innings, but he got smacked around. they've been living in a fantasy world for a month.

Greg Cohen said...

Well, they lost today with A-Rod.

Let's see where they're at after this ten-game stretch. We'll know a lot more then.

Remember, they beat crappy teams since A-Rod has been back. The only good team they've played was Philly and they lost that series and were lucky not to get swept.

Greg Cohen said...

What about trading for Holiday?

And I don't believe A-Rod saved anything. They played bad teams and got good starting pitching. That's why they've won.

daneptizl said...

So you're saying that because they've gone 1-3 with A-Rod in those games, that there's no way they can be .500 against them? You've warned about SSS before, but you're ignoring it now...

Greg Cohen said...

I just don't think we've seen anything that tells us that they have a team that can compete against real teams.

daneptizl said...

I'm sure they wouldn't be playing as good without A-Rod.

Anonymous said...

Marte coming back will be huge? You live in fairy tale land. Marte sucks and that was one of the worst trades ever. Cahsman is a moron.

How do you lose to a team that commmits 4 errors? Only the Brian Cashman built Yankees can do that.

This team doesn't beat good teams because they are not good. Its as simple as that. It smoke and mirrors.

This team will definitely not win with Mo as a closer. If Cashman doesn't do anything its over. Cashman must also fix the BP, there is no excuse for the condition it is in. And, Cashman must get 1 or 2 more REAL OFers and not the scrubs we have.

What has Posada done then? Did his .308 batting average win the game? Nope. He has done NOTHING since returning. We were fine WITHOUT him. We need youth, energy and a new mindset.

Will said...

daneptizl, the A-Rod analogy is a false parallel. they Yankee lineup (despite angry anon's complaints) is one of the toughest in baseball. the lineup put up tons of runs in April/May. but this bullpen has almost nobody they can turn to. So if the Yankees had great pitching and where losing games 3-2 or something because of A-Rod being out, then yeah, there would be a good argument for going out and getting a halfway descent slugger.

daneptizl said...

I'm still confident we'll get our bullpen fixed within a month and we'll win the East.

Greg Cohen said...

I hope you're right Dane.

daneptizl said...

So Bruney, Melancon, MArte aren't relievers they can turn to, to get better results than Veras, Coke?

Greg Cohen said...

Bruney is, Marte isn't, Melancon could be, but the Yankees don't seem to want to give him another chance.

Will said...

last I checked Bruney and Marte are on the DL. so no, they can't.

and as for coming back from the DL, Wang is your current model. Maybe they will be ok, and maybe not. All you have is Hope, which is mostly just a campaign slogan.

daneptizl said...

So Veras > Marte or Coke > Marte? Nah...

Greg Cohen said...

Veras, Marte = garbage

Coke = Can't handle any kind of pressure.

daneptizl said...

So... Wang is my model, because obviously Bruney didn't come back healthy and pitched well last season and Marte has weakness of the hips as he came back from Lisfranc as well... talk about false parallels...

Obama is the worst president ever. Only thing worse and more stupid than this Muslim is the moronic American people that voted for him. But, you idiots got what you wanted. The biggest leftist, marxist, money-wasting, freedom hating, baby killing liberal who loves the devil and is a child of the devil. Just like the church he went to for 20 years. He's a type of PHARAOH! Hey stupid dopes who brought Israel into bondage? Who wouldn't let the children of Israel go? Which race pleaded for "civil rights" and "religious freedom"?

"Let my people go" is the story of a Shemite (Moses) demanding civil rights and religious liberties from a Hamite. Don't forget that and get your brains balled up reading the newspaper. News media educated fools.

That is exactly what you wanted and you got it. Now, reap what you sowed! The only thing Obama is missing is the Shemite in him. Then he could be the anti-Christ. But, this is just a trial run to prepare the way for the man of sin. This vile person will take over the kingdom by PEACE and FLATTERIES.

SUCKERS!

daneptizl said...

Yeah! lmao...

crossfire said...

Come in off the ledge everyone. The Yanks were playing shit ball at the beginning of the year and now they are playing very well. Yeah, today was a total crap game but this is still a very good team and it will only get better as they get healthier. Plus you know they will add pieces.

Will said...

dan until players are back healthy, they are not healthy. assuming all will be fine is a huge assumption. players with repeat injuries tend to do worse each time around. id like more than one good pitcher in the pen who can pitch today, not in 2 weeks, or in july, or in august, or who knows when. all the bs the front office feeds the media is just that, you can't count on their reports as to the wellness of any player until that player actually shows up for work and does his job.

Anonymous said...

Go get Huston Street, Cash. Shelley's value is the highest it will ever be. Gogogogo

Anonymous said...

Coke was the second lefty in the pen. He was good in that role. As soon as Bruney and Marte got hurt Coke has been elavated to 8th or 9th and that he cant handle.

Marte has been a bust even with Bruney coming back the yankees need another bullpen. Time for Cashman give up some prospects for Huston Street.

Tied for first and everyone is acting like the sky is falling. Greg, I think you're losing it a little bit.. Okay so maybe their record shows they haven't beaten "good" teams but to say something like "The only good team they've played was Philly and they lost that series and were lucky not to get swept" is just ridiculous. You could just as easily say the Phillies were lucky not to lose 2 out of 3 the way that 3rd game went. And what about the first Sox series in Boston? Oh well I guess the Red Sox just killed us in that series? Actually, no because according to your thinking they were lucky not to lose 2 out of 3 too. Plus, the Sox have yet to even face CC or pitch against a lineup with A-Rod. Which brings me to my next point.. A-ROD MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! They've only played crappy teams? are you kidding me? Didn't they take 4 of 6 from a Texas team with one of the best records in baseball? But I guess that doesn't count. As far as today goes, it was a slugfest and the Yanks came out on the wrong end. Sure, you can blame the bullpen which is a problem, but are you telling me the Rays don't have bullpen issues? But oh my god they beat us so they must be a better team! One loss against "a real team" (also ridiculous) and everyone is freaking out. Embarrassing.

ALSO I guess everyone forgets about taking 2 of 3 from the Rays in Tampa the first series we played them. But I guess that was too long ago to be important because the fact is the Yankees are a terrible team that just beats up on bad teams, right?

I like David Robertson and Phil Coke they are good arms. But they are also inexperienced. You cant rely on them to be your top relievers in your pen. Marte and Veras were suppose to be the bridge to Mariano and they both are garbage. They both should not be in the bullpen, put Veras on the DL too. Yanks need Bruney healthy and a trade for Huston Street. Then you could slide David Robertson and Phil Coke down in the bullpen and you will have a very good bullpen.

Even if the yanks only beat bad teams. They will probably still make the playoffs with that.

People are getting out of hand basically all the games with the Rays and Red Sox have been very close. Yanks will beat them.

What did CC do against the mighty Rays lineup today? Why should we have any faith in him against the Sox?

Anyway, the Rays are better, because they're pitch better and catch better. There's a reason they won the AL last year.

I'm sorry, but 20 games against weak teams may have gotten us a little too excited about a team that might not be as good as we hoped.

Like I said before, we'll know how good this team is after this 9 game stretch.

Oh, and if you think Texas is actually a good baseball team you have another thing coming. A lot of teams have good Aprils and Mays only to fall off into oblivion later in the year.

So giving up 4 earned to the Rays and basically making 1 bad pitch to Aybar makes him a bad pitcher? You're ridiculous Greg act like you know what you're talking about for once. So basically you are arguing that the Rays are a better team because of what they did LAST YEAR? That makes a lot of sense. Who has the better record so far THIS YEAR? Why don't you worry about that. And tell me, what "real" or "good" teams have the Rays beaten that the Yankees haven't? How about the Rays losing 4 of 7 to the Orioles so far? Or getting swept by the Cleveland Indians in 4 games the same series before the Yankees went in to Cleveland and took 3 of 4? If you want to argue that the Yankees haven't played well I'd agree with you but to say they are a better team is just ridiculous. If you're gonna blog about a team and share your opinion, you better check your facts.

Oh and Texas has been pretty good so far. Good enough to beat Boston last night, which by your argument already makes them a better team than the Yankees!

no wonder why everyone hates us yankees fans. some of you guys really are idiots

I never said the Rays were a better team, I just said the Yankees have trouble beating good teams, because they do.

And I'm sorry, but four earned runs isn't a good start, whether it's one bad pitch or twelve.

Greg Cohen said...

But no I never said CC was a "bad pitcher."

Bad game? Yes. Bad pitcher? No.

By the way, those mighty Rangers are down 8-0 to the Sox... Say hello to second place.
