i know im a broken record, but this is so idiotic that stubhub is now closed for tonights game. its still two hours away, anyone in midtown could get there in 30 min. hell people will show up two innings late anyway.
tonight was probably a good value night, great weather, but monday, so only the unemployed and fabulously idle will be going. stubhub is stupid.
You're right.
We need to pound Sonnanstine...no excuses
What Stubhub is doing is kinda dumb, but they must have their reasons.
And even with that, Stubhub is still great. You can get some awesome buys.
But I agree, they should try to make tickets available closer to gametime. If I lived in the city, I know I might decide to go to a game only a couple hours before if I had nothing to do. But I'm in Jersey and it takes me over three hours to take the train, then the subways to the stadium. So this doesn't really apply to me, lol.
Rays' lineup...
B.J. Upton CF
Carl Crawford LF
Evan Longoria 3B
Carlos Pena 1B
Willy Aybar 2B
Ben Zobrist SS
Joe Dillon DH
Gabe Kapler RF
Michel Hernandez C
well why dont you try to send a complaint to them if you can?
I'm surprised to see Longoria at third. The guy could barely even trot to first yesterday in the 9th inning. How is he going to play third?
Take out Matsui in the lineup and make Swisher the DH and put Gardner in the field. Have Gardner bunt to Longoria to test him.
Matsui shouldn't be playing everyday with his bad knees. They need to trat Matsui like he is a catcher.
I agree. Get Gardner in there. As far as I'm concerned, Matsui is shot. 90% of the time, he sucks. Don't get me wrong, he's been a solid Yankee for us over the years. He's been clutch and put up solid numbers. But his knees have totally given up on him and he's not what he used to be.
The days of Matsui as a Yankee are coming to an end.
Greg -
Went to the SWB Yankees vs Charlotte on Sat night (I live in Charlotte, but originally from the Bronx). They had the biggest crowd of the season so far (over 10,000) - we had great seats, 5th row behind the SWB dugout, and almost everyone in our section was originally from NY, decked out in Jeter/CC/A-Rod/Tex jerseys. To our suprise, none other than Mr. October, Reggie Jackson, threw out the first ball to Chris Chambliss (Charlotte manager). Although SWB lost, George Kontos pitched a strong 8 innings, but was done in by errors. The hitting really sucked - maybe it was the pressure of playing in front of Reggie, but A-Jax looked lost; as bad as Ransom and Shelley Duncan were, they are still better than Berroa. Their baserunning was also horrendous.
Andy needs to get his shit together. He's becoming very frustrating to watch with his lack of control.
And a Teix message to right! Boy was that a shot!
1-0 Yanks!
Man Pettitte is really dealing. Hopefully the 1st will be the only blemish for Andy.
Swishalicous!!
3-0 Bombers.
Anybody there? Hello? Greg? Any Anons? Liam? Anybody?
the chat is dead tomgiht
Hey guys, sorry was eating dinner.
That great Jay, I've never been to a minor league game.
Pettitte is really pitching great.
If the Yankees hold on they'll go into Fenway a game up on the Sox. Can't wait for the series!
Was pitching well.
Okay check that. He just gave up the lead. 3-3.
If he throws 6 innings and gives up only those 3 runs, I would call that a pretty good outing (at least better than his last vs. Texas)
True.
Pitching great? More clueless Yankee fans. Is Obama being a great President too? 100 days of Obamanation make 8 years of Bush look a day at the amusement park.
So well but anyways....Pettitte has a 3-0 lead and gives it away to....drum roll......Gabe Kapler. Wow, really impressive Pettitte just like last year. Another great Cashman signing. Just gotta love our GM's decisions.
This is a mediocre team at best. If we had no GM we would probably make the playoffs. With one, I doubt it.
You're an idiot on so many levels it's ridiculous.
18 strait games W/O an error now we keep having at least 1 a game, WTF, Andy get your head out your ass,
Baseball is a crazy game.
Hey JC, umm, Matsui has been a solid yankee, what koolaid you drinking, he's been nothing but a fraud, he's been almost as much of a waste of money as Pavano, his most HR's was his 2nd yr @ 31,doesn't stay healthy, way overpaid for the pathetic production, that you could easily get from someone like SHelley Duncan for way, way less....THank god its his last season, go back to japan, bum...
Four-pitch walk to lead off the inning, fantastic.
I wonder if he hurt his back in the third. He hasn't been the same since.
How has Matsui not been a solid Yankee??
Look at his stats. In his four full seasons, he's driven in over 100 runs.
You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
Pettitte needs to be taken out of the rotation if this is going to become a habit. Put him on the DL and let Hughes take over until he's OK.
This isn't the regular Andy Pettitte.
When people say Jeter isn't good defensively just show them a clip of that double play.
Based on the same stats people use to knock his defense he's actually having his best year ever. I agree with the numbers, he's been great this year.
It's not his glove that's the problem. It's his range. If Jeter can get to a ball, he's great. The problem is that his range is what's slowly getting worse...
That's what I'm talking about, his range this year has been his best ever.
the big salamander aka Matsui is taking away at bats from players. I.E. Duncan, & when Nady comes back, & when Posada or AROD or Tex or even Damon or Jeter need 1/2 days off. buy him out , make him waive his no trade, ( never deserved it) & get rid of him...
Like I said, if Pettitte can pitch a scoreless 6th and leave it up to the bullpen, that is a pretty good outing if you ask me.
We just need to score some runs!!!

"You're an idiot on so many levels it's ridiculous."
Just popped in and was catching up when I saw that. His stupidity knows no bounds. lol
Mario,
I admit, he has no speed and only little pop now, but he hasn't been a total bust.
Matsui has been far from a bust. He's had injury issues for a couple years and he looks really bad right now, but overall he was a good Yankee.
Hey, Hughes is warming up in the bullpen right now, he may come in.
Anyone who thinks Matsui was a total waste either is totally clueless or not watching the Yankees.
Matsui was a very good player for a good stretch. He's just getting older now and not what he once was.
Nice! Big knock by J.D.
I agree about Matsui. Until his knees went, he was a very good player. Not the best fielder but damn good with the bat and a very clutch hitter.
Whoa, that was even 95 on MLB.com, not just the YES gun... Good inning for Hughes.
Nice inning for Phil. I'm catching this on GameDay at the moment. Looks like Hughes had a great inning. How do his pitches look?
wow, hughes came out firing!
They look very good. The fastball has a little late tail on them, and besides the two or three that he bounced, his curve was good too.
Thanks Greg. This kid is good.
I haven't seen Phil throw that well since the 2007 ALDS against the Indians.
Wouldnt it be ironic if Hughes ended up being the new dominant "Joba" 7-8th inning guy with the dominant 95 MPH heater...
Next question...will Girardi bring him back out in the 8th.?..he better!!!
It could happen. Especially if he keeps throwing like that.
He should.
No, he's bringing in Coke for some reason. I guess he wants the lefty for Pena.
DAMMIT!!! TYPICAL GIRARDI OVERMANAGING!!! Why not bring Hughes back out, get him some real work.? He is enfuengo!
i was looking forward to seeing phil come out again
This is stupid. Should've left Hughes in the game. Coke has been sucking.
If Coke blows the game, it's on Girardi.
Four-pitch walk.
Way to go, Coke.
i just don't get it at all. when you have a reliever that is unhittable, blowing people away, why do you take him out after a dozen pitches??? Its not about Coke, its about using the hot hand...Girardi makes me crazy. THIRD F-ING visit to the mound. two by Posasa, one by Eiland...
Can these idiots please stop doing the wave?
YANKEE STADIUM WAVE??? My life is over. 8th inning, two outs, one run game against the AL champs last year and they are doing the wave??? This isn't Shea!! What happened to REAL YANKS FANS?? Did anybody else see that in the background? If you have DVR or TIVO, rewind to the last batter and you will see a WAVE!!!!
Coke did a good job. Good to see... I've always hated the wave, waves in the 8th inning of a one run game at Yankee Stadium make me want to hurt people.
Girardi is a genius!
Ok... I wasn't saying that at the beginning of the inning. But Coke got the job done.
And Greg, I was thinking the same thing. I hate the friggin' wave. It's an important time of the game and these morons are interested in watching each other stand up in unison. I don't freakin' get it.
Greg,
so glad you saw it too. I mean, its one thing in a blow-out on a long hot summer's day (I despise it then to be honest), but in a one run game against a division rival in the 8th inning????
EL CAP-I-TAN!!!
YEA JEET!
Yeah Captain!!!
I'm really siked for the Boston series. The reason we we're 0-6 against them the first 2 series were because Teix wasn't hot, and A-Rod wasn't in the lineup. With both of them hot and in the lineup, I have a good feeling about this series. We could really make a statement if we sweep or take 2-of-3.
They really need to go up there and with the series, gotta send a message. Because until now we've been their doormats this year.
Part of me cringes when I see homers at home now. Even if they are Yankee homers....
Five more homers in the new Stadium.
It is what it is. They'll do something this offseason, but until then we have to deal with it.
I know. Part of me just hopes it was just a homer surge later on and that the stadium really wasn't causing the homers.
Swisher's and Tex's were no-doubters, but the other three... Who knows?
Early on, I meant. Oops.
1 out away, come on Mo!!
Wow. Check out the Demolition of Yankee Stadium website on Greg's blogroll. There is absolutely no seats left in the Cathedral.
BALLGAME OVER! YANKEES WIN!! THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA YANKEES WIN!
Now where the idiots saying Mo is done?
Nice win by the Yanks!
Now let's head to Boston and win the series, weather it's a sweep or taking 2 of 3, we jsut need to win the series, no matter how you cut it.
Nice win.
Bring on the Sox!
for the amount of money he was paid, and the hype coming from japan, & the fact he has a no trade clause, is a joke...
If they win the series in Boston this team is for real.
I agree, this series will show us where this team is as a ballclub.
The upcoming series with the Red Sox will not make or break the team. The yanks are 0-5 to the red sox and the yankees are in first place. I want to win 2 games in Boston considering one of the matchups is Sabathia and Penny. But winning or losing this upcoming series will not have that big of an impact, both the sox and yanks will make the playoffs.
You're right, it won't make or break the season, but at the same time I think the Yankees need to prove to Boston and to themselves that they can beat this team.
Sonnastine is a brutal pitcher, I am amazed we didn't score more runs. He throws 88 right over the plate.
