News & Notes

- CC Sabathia is 1-1 with a 1.65 ERA in two starts against the Nationals. He faced them once last year and pitched a complete game shutout. He allowed just five hits and a walk, and struck out nine.

- The Yanks are 23-12 since Alex Rodriguez came off the DL. And have won 14 of their last 19 at home.

- Brian Bruney has been activated, to make room on the roster Jose Veras has been DFA'd. The way he's pitched he's deserved it.

- The Nats are 6-23 away from Nationals Park this year, and have lost 9 in a row on the road.

- I'll be at the game so tonight's game summary and minor league report might be a little late. Enjoy the game. Go Yankees!

Nice touch on the old-school expos logo.

THANK GOD! ADIOS VERAS

Best move Girardi has made all season. Now get Melancon in there.

As both a Nats & Yanks fan (I know...from NJ, live in DC), I object to the expos logo.

Thank god Bruney is back hopefully he can stay healthy.

Mariano
Bruney
Hughes
Coke
Aceves
Robertson
Tomko (long man)

That is a very solid bullpen. Also the thing I like is you can use Hughes, Aceves for multiple innings it is a very flexible bullpen.

The bullpen out of spring training

Mo
Bruney
Marte
Coke
Albaledjo
Rameriez
Veras

only Mo, Bruney and Coke are left.

Veras sucked this year. Thank God he's off the team. Bet you now that Bruney's back and Veras is gone, we'll go on a tear.

Sorry Swisher is in right.

Will said...

Shouldn't that be a Goldman Sachs logo up there on the right?

Will said...

What? getting rid of Veras?!!! This makes no sense. Next thing they'll be doing is taking Wang out of the staring rotation until he can pitch again. Insanity.

wooooooooooooo go yankees, even though i live near dc lol

Nice updating to the Expos logo.

Go Bombers.

Throw another shrimp on the Bar-B - Sammy Sosa tested positive.

And Sosa lied to congress.

"The 2003 positive test could also create legal troubles for Sosa because he testified under oath before Congress at a public hearing in 2005 that he had “never taken illegal performance-enhancing drugs.”"

oops.

I wouldn't have DFA Veras. That simply doesn't make any sense. He has electric stuff but he is a head case. This just shows how poor the Yankees FO is and their coaching staff including minor leagues.

And, of course, after 1 whole game of great pitching and excitement with a young catcher, it is back to Posada. Ridiculous. Why should I suppor this garbage of a organization because it wants to worry about ONE PERSON (posada) over the whole team. Taht is exactly why this organization, country and corporate america is in such shambles.

Brian Danuff said...

Wow, it may just be my TV, but it sounds like the Yankees are playing in a graveyard right now.

Brian Danuff said...

Are you kidding me? To the freaking Nationals? To Anderson Hernadez? Agianst CC? Oh my God.

Anonymous said...

No worries, its definitely NOT Posada. Nah, no way.

Anonymous said...

Posada cant call a game get him out of here.

Anonymous said...

Posada can call a game. He's so fantastic!

Liam Gallagher said...

VERAS IS GONE!!!! Now we should win.

Brian Danuff said...

Well Teix just tied it up, I smell another come-from-behind victory!

Brian Danuff said...

Liam,

Where've you been?

Anonymous said...

why robbie why

Brian Danuff said...

4-3!! YES!!!

Brian Danuff said...

Well at least we got the lead now. Knowing how bad the Nationals are and how good CC is, I think we may win this game.

Anonymous said...

Wow, you are great Posada. You can hit, run and catch with the best of them! 5 tool player at 65 years old. What a deal!

Brian Danuff said...

He's 37, calm down.

Greg Cohen said...

What's wrong with Jeter?

Brian Danuff said...

I think I saw him limping just a bit while getting out of the box. Crossing my fingers, I think it may just be a little pull.

By the way, how's the game?

Greg Cohen said...

Its good just worried about Jeet.

Brian Danuff said...

Just heard on YES:

Jeet has left ankle soreness. So it doesn't seem that bad.

Anonymous said...

Jeter would have never made that play....

Brian Danuff said...

BALLGAME OVER!! YANKEES WIN!! THAAAAAAAAA YANKEES WIN!!

Too bad the Red Sox won though.

Sabathia is a horse, he is going to give up around 3 or 4 runs a game but he is going to pitch into the 8th inning. The guy can really save a bullpen which is good considering the other starters are struggling going deep into games.

Hell of a game by Cano

Jeter hurt his ankle in the met game and is day to day.

Good game. Would liked to have seen the first game without a homer. So close! My seats were excellent.

Traffic on the Triboro sucked ass and then the GCP was backed up too.

Who was the genius from NYDOT that thought two different construction areas on the GCP in one night was a good idea? Lonn's brother, Donn Trost?

Glad it was a win tonight or I would be pissed. At least my buddy was driving and not me.
