I want to see CC hit a home run tonight

why no damon? was it because of lastnight's debacle?

Greg Cohen said...

Probably.

I'm getting really really really really sick of Nick Green. Plus, the umpires in Fenway seem to forget that the home team isn't supposed to get all the calls every single inning of every single game.

Nick Green just shows you that Cashman is an idiot. Cashman couldn't spell the word CAT if he was spotted the C and the T.

Anonymous said...

As bad as Cashman can be at times, Nick Green is not one of his mistakes. Nick Green sucks. He's always sucked. He's bounced around from a larger number of different teams, and he's always shown that he flat out can't hit a lick. The fact that he's now hitting for Boston shows just how ridiculously lucky they are, it has nothing to do with their scouting or their GM.

And let's make no mistake - while he's done a good job filling in, and had some insanely lucky clutch hits, he's not doing anything more than an average SS. Also, it won't be long before he comes back down to his career numbers. It just annoys me when a journeyman backup utility man goes to the Red Sox and performs way over career norms.

Yup, its luck. Brilliant.

That didn't take long CC.

Greg Cohen said...

Wonder what that's all about. Hope he's OK.

NO BIGGIE BOUT C.C

HE JUST HAS THE FLU, JUST HEARD IT ON ESPN RADIO

Tomko is such a waste.

Mario said...

um, GOD (espn) is reporting he has a biceps injury, SO.... why again is Brett Tomko still on this team, wasting a roster spot on some oldass has been/never was...

Anonymous said...

Man these Yankees are so good especially the management and coach.

Tomko sucks

agroup said...

Why does Joe keep pitching Tomko. He is absolutely terrible and one of the worst long relief pitchers we've ever had. Why not pitch Hughes?

Anonymous said...

Haha what a joke now watch the bats go silent against this scrub.

--------------------------------

from Peter Abraham blog: Hughes is no longer a long man,

UPDATE, 6:40 p.m.: Tomko follows Aceves. Yes, Phil Hughes is now part of the bridge to Mo. Girardi said today they still consider him a starter long terms but they love the work he has done in the bullpen.

UPDATE, 7:02 p.m.: Tomko gives up another homer and the Yankees trail 4-3. Aceves had thrown 43 pitches, which was probably the limit of his effectiveness.

Mario said...

hey another pitching change by our idiot manager, hey can we put TOMKO back in, he was awesome....old worthless PIECE Of crap...

Another loss a coming. So impressive. $200m and they stink. And, Cashman still has a job.

Mario said...

i'm not optomistic about this organization anymore, cashman's head is up his own ass, the 2 brothers are "DUMB & DUMBER" & girardi hasn't a clue, & don't forget the albatross of a contract that is AROD, he might as well succeed and start his own team...

Great job Robertson. Another idiot reliever who comes in and walks people under Posada's great catching abilities. But, but, but, but, its not Posada's fault that NONE of the pitchers can throw strikes with Posada and ONLY Posada behind the plate.

Where's the idiot anon who said the difference between Veras and Robertson is Robertson got out of the jam? Did he get out of the jam this time? Is walking people what you are supposed to do? Cashman and you = IDIOT.

And, another loss with Posada catching. I thought his .308 batting average was the difference maker? What's our record with Posada since he returned from the DL?

0-8 against the Red Sox and but for Castillo's drop, this would be our fourth consecutive series loss - 3 of them against crap National League teams. There's no way this team is finishing ahead of either Boston or Tampa. How much longer are the Steinbrenners going to put up with Girardi and his useless coaching staff?

Greg Cohen said...

What is Jeter doing? First pitch swinging with Gardner on third? Take a pitch or two? Maybe he bounces a breaking ball in the dirt?

Bad series.

Anonymous said...

Bad team.

Anonymous said...

Jeter the choke artist. Just like Mo, Arod, Posada, Damon and Matsui. Get rid of all these bums. And, what a rip by Jeter! Man did he hit that hard huh! Who didn't know that Jeter and his wiffle ball bat swing wasn't going to do that? That was a perfect DP ball us usual for the $20M choke artist. LOSERS! Not bigger losers than Yankees management tho. Great job Robertson. YOu're just like VEras.

And, ANOTHER LOSS WITH POSADA BEHIND THE PLATE. ROFLMAO at your Posada lovers. Complete fools is what you are.

Greg Cohen said...

Get out of here you Red Sox troll.

rob said...

that was b.s. the game should've been tied but no, jeter wanted to be the big hero and win it on the first pitch. what does he do but ground out to short. that was a situation where u need to work the count before even thinking twice about batting the run in. but again, no because jeter wanted to be the hero, especially when everyone else was working the count.

Brian Danuff said...

Posada isn't horrible. He and A.J. gave up only 2 runs last night, and you can't blame Posada for Ramirez's home run, Tomko just sucked today. I'm not a Posada lover, but he's still a good player.

Also, I can't beleive how they lost. Isn't this like the 2nd time in a week that the Yankees have lost the game with Gardner on 3rd? Jeter should have defenitely took a pitch. Garuntee you he would get a pitch to his liking and line it up the middle if he was patient.

We're now 4 out, we need to have a solid last 3 weeks of the 1st half if we want something to build on heading into the 2nd half of the season.

rob said...

we also need to stop making crappy errors in the outfield every game. ever since they went 18 games errorless they've had in error in pretty much every game.

Anonymous said...

If Posada is a good player, then what is our record since his return from the DL? What was our record without him (on the DL)? What was our record before going on the DL?

And, Posad gave up another 6 runs as the starting catcher today. This is good, in your book.

Greg Cohen said...

They have to start hitting, that's the bottom line. This game had nothing to do with how Jorge called the game. The team stopped hitting after the third inning, and didn't start again until there were two out in the ninth.

rob said...

they stop hitting after they have a one or two run lead and rely on their pitching to maintain that lead instead of continuing to hit the ball and build on the lead. but when they lose the lead they go into "comeback win" mode and try to win it in the 9th inning and the past few games thats come back to haunt them.

Brian Danuff said...

How may world series have we won with Posada behind the plate Anon? 4. I don't think there is any other catcher in the MLB that has 4world series rings.

Brian Danuff said...

Including your wonderful Varitek, Anon. (who really sucks anyway)

Anonymous said...

That Melky throwing error was huge. This is the second game in a row that an error cost us.

Cano and Jeter need to stop swining on first pitches all the time. Lindstrom just walked Damon and get get wild.

bruceb said...

Rob makes a very good point. The hallmark of the winning Yankees teams is that when they had a lead, they were able to tack on. This offense is so collectively out of form that they're just not doing it. Not only am I pig-sick about what's happened in the last 12 games but I don't see it turning round any time soon. Even Tex has gone cold and A-Rod is like a giant millstone round this team's neck. Take away that nine-game winning streak and we would be below .500. Perhaps that's as good as we are.

Greg Cohen said...

I agree, they haven't been able to put teams away, and just overall their offense has looked weak. There are a lot of guys slumping at the same time.

Anonymous said...

The yankees didn't add tack on runs. When your starter is taken out of the 2nd inning. The offense needs to step it up and score some more runs.

Mario said...

it would take a freaking miracle for the yanks to make it thru a season w/o serious drama & chaos. but as fans, we know better,

Anonymous said...

You guys make up straw man arguments. I never said this game was Posada's fault. You guys are deaf, dumb and blind.

And, who cares that Posada won 4 World Series rings. So didn't Whitey Ford. That's not an argument in 2009. That is the something a stupid idiot poster who can't think of anythign else to say becasue he is dumb.

AGain, what is our record since POSada returned from the DL? What was it when he was hurt and what was it before? You know why you don't answer 1999 boy? Becuase you hate facts. That's why.
