News & Notes

- CC Sabathia is has only faced the Mets once in his career, back on June 16th, 2004 at Shea. He went 8 innings allowing just a run on six hits, walked one and struck out three on his was to a win. He is hitting .261/.270/.398 with 3 HR and 13 RBI in 88 at-bats in his career.

- Mike Pelfrey has faced the Yankees only once in his career and picked up a win. In 5 innings he allowed four runs on eight hits, walked four and struck out five.

- I'm making my first trip to Citi Field tonight so I probably won't be able to post the lineups. Enjoy the game people, I'll try to post a few comments from the ballpark.

Stick around and discuss the game

lol a met fan tried for a comeback one time when i called citi field, shitty field by calling yankee stadium shitty yankee stadium......... wow real creative.

JC said...

Why is Citi Field shitty? Because it's not the Yankees stadium?

That's ridiculous. Citi Field is a nice park.

Yea its on SNY. I was in a rush. Citi is actually pretty nice. Anyone know about this weather?

it was obvious jeter was coming down with something in atlanta.. everytime the camera went on him he could barely breathe.. the heat didnt help, but you could tell he was coming down with a bug

pretty crappy way to spend your 35th bday

Greg, looks like real nasty storms coming through until about 9 pm. There are severe thunderstorm warnings until 10 pm but as I said, looks like the heavy stuff will be thru Flushing by 9.

Doesn't look like it totally clears out until 10.

just think, they have posada, jeter, matsui, and swisher not starting..

cervelli has done a great job so i dont care, jeter is sick so theres nothing we can do about that, matsui cant play the field so thats expected.. at least our defense is improved for today

No hail here but it rained real hard and nasty lightening.

last time the game went into a rain delay and the game was on My9, my MYTV affiliate (WCTX-Hartford) didn't show it so i hope that doesnt happen again.

Emmanuel said...

I guess the game should be getting underway pretty soon. MLB doesn't have delay under the broadcast anymore.

Just got back from DC

I've been to Citi Field and it's a nice place to watch a game.

We can now see what a New York ball park looks like when the seat prices (while still too high for most) are more reasonable than the Levine/Trost stadium in the Bronx. Outside of a few empty seats behind the plate, looks like a full house. Something the Yankees haven't done yet! The product of more reasonable prices.

Notice on that foul ball by CC how those seats face the mound/home plate. Something levine /Trost failed to think of when designing YS.

listening to Sterling complain that he has to look through the fans to see home plate. Welcome to my world John. Thats how the grandstand seats at the Stadium are with the flat seating bowl. You can't see over the fans in front of you.

2 for 13 with RISP tonight. Same old problem for years. Good thing Cashman is happy with our offense and the answer is already on the team.

At least they are winning.

i must say for an awesome game there is no around around here. Anyway i must say i officicaly love brett gardner

What a great win. 3 for 17 with RISP and 14 LOB is a great concern again. Not many good teams are gonna give you 3 errors.

I'll take a win tho. The amazing part was they did it without all the old men playing. Go with the youth!

And, Gardner is fantastic. His average is up to .300 I think. He prolly should be the leadoff guy. Just like Cervelli should be the catcher. But, it wont happen. That's what drives me nuts!

In time, in time!

Just hope that great baseball man Hank ("Fredo") Steinbrenner doesn't trade them away like his father. Otherwise the 80s will be back.
