The Plan For A-Rod

From Bryan Hoch:
Alex Rodriguez, who did not start on Friday and Saturday due to fatigue six weeks after returning from surgery on his right hip, will get one day of rest each week through next month's All-Star break.

The Yankees will follow a plan created by Dr. Marc Philippon, the surgeon who operated on A-Rod's hip in March.

"That sounds like a good plan," Rodriguez said on Sunday. "From what I understand, that comes from Vail (Colo.) and Dr. Philippon. We'll follow his instructions and regroup in a month. The idea is that I'll get stronger each month."
...

"We're going to have to give him some time, pick a couple days between now and the All-Star break, then see where we are after the All-Star break," Girardi said. "I think the rest will help him. He's been through a lot -- the physical rehab, playing in games."
I'm glad the Yankees have decided to finally to listen to the doctors. Hopefully they actually do that this time.

Sounds good to me.

I just can't believe how stupid some people in this organization are. This is your most value or costly asset, you have to do everything in your power to keep the guy at full strength.

Right.

for all the talk about how professional the team is run...it sometimes sure seems like it's run by a bunch of idiots..

I can understand you feeling that way.

The Yankees were instructed by the surgeon to follow this plan immediately after the surgery.

You have to wonder what's up with the organization.

Also keep in mind that the same hip will be undergoing another round of more involved surgery at season's end for adequate recovery time.

How can A-Rod possibly be fatigued? It's not as though he's been running round the bases recently. I guess it must be all that disco dancing he does.

At some point is upper management going to start holding people accountable for this things?

injuries have hurt this team for about 1 1/2 years now. Last year the list was long, this year ARod and Nady. Man thats a bat our up and down lineup sorely misses. Imagine if we had a healthy productive Nady.

wouldn't that be the most common sense thing to do after a guy comes right back from surgery? they shouldn't need a doctor to tell them to give him rest its pretty sad lol

Good point, Rich.

Somebody screwed up with A-Rod. I thought he was on a schedule to rest periodically as it was.

Meanwhile, the Yankees were concerned enough with CC to yank him out of a ballgame, but not concerned enough to test him or basically do anything else with him.

It's a contradiction in how the Yankees handle their ballplayers. Someone isn't being consistent in their thinking.
