The Yankees may want to keep an eye turned toward the Rockies, because of Colorado stumbles, right-handed reliever Huston Street may become available again. If that's so, don't be surprised to see the Yankees come knocking.Carig goes on to mention the how the Rockies have gone 20-7 since Jim Tracy took over and have shifted from "sellers" to "undecideds".Apparently, they already have this season. A major league source, who requested anonymity because he isn't authorized to comment on other teams, told me that the Yankees' reported interest in Street was serious.
The source said that Yankees general manager Brian Cashman approached the Rockies about a deal as early as the middle of May, as the Yankees' bullpen struggled. Meanwhile, the source said the Rockies had already begun combing through the Yankees' minor league system, mining for possible trade targets.
Then, before a deal could get rolling, manager Clint Hurdle was fired.
For the season Street is 2-1 with 17 saves and an ERA of 3.09. But since May 1st, Street has been excellent, going 2-0 with 1.66 ERA. In 21.2 innings he's allowed four earned runs on 13 hits, walked 7 and struck out 25.
I don't know about you, but I think the 25-year-old Street would be a great addition to the Yankees pen. Hopefully they start losing again and fall back into the "seller" category.

I still think that several good pitchers within the organization are not getting their chance to show they could have an immediate impact on the pen. Though this would be a great move, but I can't help but think that Dave Eiland and Girardi would simply misuse and derail Street too.
I completely agree, Danny. Even worse would be if we trade away some of those same pitchers for Street. I mean he got great stuff but I still wanna see OUR guys get a chance before it comes to trades.
The yanks have had great success acquiring relievers from the national league.
Huston Street might be the last piece to put this team over the top. Mariano, Bruney, Street, Hughes, Aceves, Coke and Robertson would be a lights out pen.
Street would be great if they can get a 5 year contract extension ( i dont know what he has left on his contract now ). Good replacement for rivera, and next year Pettitte is out and hughes is in the starting rotation. If Bruney returns and can actually stay healthy (knock on wood) the Yankees would go from having a rather iffy pitching staff to a very solid one. I have every confidence Wang will be in fine shape by later this year and for years to come. The yankees are just retards at helping players recover from injury which is why Wang turned into a fiasco this first half.

brxbmrzfan, Street has played most of his career in the AL and he's done a good job. This isn't like acquiring a career-long national leaguer.
Danny, the only guys in Triple-A who I think should get a shot are Mark Melancon and Zach Kroenke.

I agree Greg about not getting rid of A-Jax and Jesus. But who would we get rid of?
That's a good question, Liam. Honestly, I have no idea what it would cost to land Street.
