7/11 Minor League Report

================

We are lucky enough to have a SWB report from BigGuy tonight.
He won't be doing these all the time by when he does I will
post them. Thanks BG for the great contributions.

(Triple-A) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (49-36) beat Buffalo (32-53) 2-1: Box Score - Recap

The SWB Yanks played another home game on the road due to poor field conditions at SWB's PNC Field The Buffalo Bisons (Mets) downed the Yanks 2-1. The loss puts SWB at 49-36 on the season.

PITCHING: Ivan Nova made his 3rd AAA start for the Yankees. Nova retired the first 10 men he faced. In the 4th, a double and RBI single scored 1 run to tie the game at 1. That was all the scoring Nova would allow as he had another impressive start. Buffalo threatened in the 5th on a leadoff walk, and single by former Yankee Angel Berroa. There was a double play with a rundown, and a strikeout that ended the threat. Nova threw a scoreless 6th inning allowing a single. He threw a scoreless 7th, after issuing a leadoff walk, he got Berroa to hit into a DP. Nova finished strong with a perfect 8th inning. Nova's line: 8.0 IP, 1 run, 4 hits, 4 K--2 walks, 15 groundouts - 3 flyouts, 98 pitches - 58 strikes.

Zach Kroenke came to start the 9th. He gave up a single and sac bunt before being relieved by Alabaladejo. Kroenke got the loss (5-1). Jonathan Albaladejo came in with 1 out and a runner on 2nd base in the 9th. He struck out the 1st man he faced, but gave up 2 singles to give Buffalo a 2-1 lead and the win. He picked up 2 strikeouts.

OFFENSE: Jonathan Niese got the start for Buffalo. SWB blew a golden scoring opportunity in the 1st when they loaded the bases on singles to Ramiro Pena, Austin Jackson and Shelley Duncan with 1 out, but were stranded by Juan Miranda and Francisco Cervelli. The Yanks took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd when Kevin Russo, Pena, and Jackson singled. SWB threatened in the 4th, when Doug Bernier hit a 2-out double but was stranded. Again in the 5th the Yanks threatened when Jackson singled for the 3rd time in the game, followed by a walk to Miranda, but Cervelli struck out to end the threat. The Yanks could only manage 2 hits after the 5th inning. Cervelli had a 2-out double in the 8th, and Eric Duncan a pinch hit single in the 9th.

NOTES: Zach Kroenke was added to the AAA all star team. He'll join Austin Jackson and Shelley Duncan. Chris Stewart's injury will keep him out of the game. SWB plays its final game before the AAA all star break Sunday, with Sergio Mitre getting the start.
