Whoa, Girardi woke up!!!!! Cano batting 7th!!!

Why is Joe Girardi being sent to rehab?

...Apparently he's been seen using too much Coke.

:) Sup Greg, enjoy the game.

Greg Cohen said...

lol Hey Derek, long time no speak. How you had a happy fourth.

Anon, yep it's about time.

I'm really getting sick of watching Joba avoid the strike zone.

Just saw that Tex beat out Youkilis for the All Star game.

really sweet, i made my wife vote for tex her 25 times, good, Players I hate the most on boston is Pedroia, Youkillis, papelbum,

Greg Cohen said...

Nice!

Greg Cohen said...

Where'd you hear that?

crossfire said...

It's a headline on yankees.com.

"Teixeira, Jeter headed to St. Louis as starters"

"Derek Jeter, the AL's leading vote-getter, and Mark Teixeira, who edged Kevin Youkilis in the vote at first and is going for the first time as a Bomber, were selected as All-Star starters."

That's all they have so far.

Greg Cohen said...

Ahh, just saw it. Thanks dude.

I voted for Tex 75 times. Couldn't bare to see youkilis start. LOL

Greg Cohen said...

Do umpired know the rules of the game anymore?

Greg Cohen said...

Mariano was the only other Yankee to make the team.

JC said...

I never vote for the All-Star Game because I think the whole thing is a joke. From the fans voting, to the whole "this time it counts" nonsense...

But I actually voted for Tex over Youkilis a few days ago because I knew the vote was so close. Tex really does deserve to start over Youkilis. Tex has more RBIs and more homers, plus he's probably got a better glove (though that one is debatable).

And I only voted for Tex at first. No one else. lol

Greg Cohen said...

lol, well good job JC.

JC said...

LOL!! Cone just cracks me up in the booth. Combining the two McDonald's drinks....

Greg Cohen said...

I actually like Cone in the booth. He and Flaherty have gotten a lot better than they were.

Anonymous said...

Fucking shit Joba...why don't you put that ball on a tee for Lind.

Greg Cohen said...

Well, looks like they go their "Yankee Stadium home run", that one isn't out anywhere else.

JC said...

I'm so tired of these cheap homers. Even when the Yankees get them, they kinda annoy me.

I really hope they fix this after the season. Move that right-field wall back about ten feet or so.

Mario said...

And JOBA struggles with pitch count as usual, on a game they need at least 7 out of him, to save the.
I"m glad only 3 yanks made it, everyone else needs time off, especially AROD..

Greg Cohen said...

I've become numb to them at this point. But yes, they should fix this in the offseason.

Oh look, Cano gets a hit with nobody on base. What a shock.

Greg Cohen said...

Mariners just took a 3-2 lead over the Red Sox.

crossfire said...

They seriously need to admit they made a mistake and move the fences back where they belong in the off season.

Moving them in to accommodate the manual scoreboard was stupid.

Anonymous said...

Throw strikes Joba.

Anonymous said...

Why is Ransom on this team? Seriously wtf. This guy has done nothing to show anything. Pena outplayed by leaps and bounds and Pena gets sent down. Stupid.

This game should be a blowout. Tex's play was a dumb play earlier in the game (even tho he was safe) but it was still a stupid play. It cost us a run or more.

JC said...

The problem is that they'll need to wipe out those seats in front of the right-field bleachers to move the wall back. I guess they could just have the bleachers there and no seats, but that would look kina weird...

But they definitely need to do something to fix it.

And now we're tied.

Greg Cohen said...

Joba really doesn't know how to pitch. That, or he just can't throw the ball where he wants to anymore.

Ransom is showing more and more why Pena should be on this team.

Anonymous said...

Why is that almost every time Posada catches the Yankee are giving up 5+ runs. Its absolutely mind boggling that this doesn't consistently happen with any other catcher on our team.

How the blankety-blank could this game be tied at 4-4. Pathetic.

Greg Cohen said...

Big hit for Scutaro... Joba just can't throw strikes.

Greg Cohen said...

Another Yankee Stadium homer... Joba stinks today. Get him out of the game.

daneptizl said...

They should just give the calls from the dugout and Joba follows what they say... 8-4....

JC said...

I love how you only bitch about Posada when the pitcher has a bad day. Where was your bitching when CC gave up six runs with Cervelli? Why didn't you note when Burnett threw seven scoreless, one-hit innings last week with Posada behind the plate?

You only pick the bad shit to talk about.

Mario said...

JOBA is not, not a starter, other then the gem he threw in cleveland, he hans't lasted past the 5th... he throws way too many pitches every outing, and today we needed him to at least make 6 or 7, and he can't make it out of 5

Mario said...

thanks joba, you suck as usual, all hype no substance,

Greg Cohen said...

It doesn't matter what the pitch calls are, Joba can't put the ball where he wants it. That + his velcoity being as low as it is tells me he's either hurt or his mechanics are all screwed up. I'm hoping it's the latter.

daneptizl said...

Joba is 23... sure he's not consistent and it's frustrating, but most pitchers did not have a seamless transition or a 4.04 ERA at age 23...

JC said...

Joba just hasn't been a good starter for us. That's pretty much all there is to it. And if he doesn't get it going soon, he needs to be in the pen. That's all there is to it. This nonsense every five days just won't cut it.

Greg Cohen said...

Very true Dane, but recently he's been lost. He's been getting by on his stuff, but he hasn't been sharp since he got injured last year.

Greg Cohen said...

JC, he was very good last year until he got hurt in Texas.

Anonymous said...

Your post shows you how stupid you really really are. I said ALMOST and CONSISTENTLY. You then choose to pick the EXCEPTION to the RULE, because somehow in your pea brain the exception disproves the rule. Why is that? Because you're an apartheid preacher? Because you're educated by the news media?

If it isn't Posada, then why does this NOT happen to any other catcher CONSISTENTLY? Occasionally the other catchers will give up 5-8 runs but NOT consistently. Get it? I doubt it. Posada CONSISTENTLY is giving up big runs with WHOMEVER the pitcher is. Get it? I seriously doubt it. Keep thinking with your pea brain because you simply HATE facts.

Great job Girardi and Cashman starting Ransom because he has done so much to help this club. Another dumbass decision by the both of them. Just like playing Cabrera in center. He sucks at center.

daneptizl said...

He could still be great with the velocity that he has. He just needs to be more aggressive and work on his command.

JC said...

Oh, and now Albaledejo.... This guy sucks.

crossfire said...

I was originally on the keep Joba as a starter bandwagon but I admit that was a mistake. I thought he would show improvement but in fact, he may be regressing.

daneptizl said...

Please... it's best for everyone involved... you'll save yourself headaches... just don't follow the team anymore.

Greg Cohen said...

Anyway, this game is far from over. Four runs is nowhere near insurmountable.

JC said...

>> Why is that? Because you're an apartheid preacher? Because you're educated by the news media? <<

LOL! I stopped reading after that....

Go whack off in your mom's basement some more.

daneptizl said...

At least we have 2-4 coming up... and Cecil still pitching..

dan said...

i hate watching Joba start now.. its so painful to watch him go to 3 and 2 to every batter and throw 100 pitches in 5 innings, and giving up 3+ runs.. i really hope the Yanks didnt screw this kid up for the rest of his career.

he needs to get agressive and get ahead in the count, and stop trying to throw the perfect pitch every time.. he's still young, he can turn it around

Mario said...

David Cone has no clue either, trying to defend Joba, why does it seem like the ransom move is money motivated, or the fact that ransom is just older, which is total BS...

daneptizl said...

We'd still be winning if Ramiro was here instead of Ransom...

JC said...

The thing that pisses me off about Joba, too, is that he always shrugs off his terrible starts and just says something like, "I learned a lot from it," or something stupid like that.

I don't think you're learning much of anything from them, since you do it almost every damn time out there!

daneptizl said...

money motivated....?

Mike B. said...

It's great to return to NYC for a performance such as this!

As I said a while back here, the bloom is off the Joba rose. I think he's a lousy pitcher period, and whether that's due to bad handling or just an over-inflated opinion of his abilities it doesn't matter. He's lousy and I cringe whenever he's on the mound. And I don't care how young he is. Perhaps it was last year's injury, but I don't think he'll be a good pitcher for us in any role.

Cody Ransom is still on this team? Can you believe it?

Mike

Greg Cohen said...

David Price gave up six runs on three hits, walked five, and lasted just 1.1 innings yesterday. These things happen to young pitchers.

It's the job of the pitching coach to work young players through it.

daneptizl said...

I can't believe you think that Joba is lousy....lulz

daneptizl said...

Where the Matsui haters at?

Greg Cohen said...

Nice!

3-run bomb by Matsui. New ballgame.

Mario said...

Who exactly is Dave Eiland, what are his qualifcations to be our pitching coach,

thanks matsui, with this joke of a ballpark, we're never out of the game...

Mike B. said...

Just my opinion. I might be proven wrong, but right now it's what I believe. He's not shown me anything to get me to change that opinion, either.

Mike B. said...

Good questions, Mario!

Mike

Greg Cohen said...

Ahhh, Cano with nobody on.. Nice.

Mario said...

u read my mind greg, bases empty, means Cano will get a hit or walk..

Greg Cohen said...

Eiland was a good minor league pitching coach, the Yanks believed that would translate to the majors, personally, I think they were wrong.

JC said...

>> Who exactly is Dave Eiland, what are his qualifcations to be our pitching coach, <<

Who exactly is Leo Mazzone and what were HIS qualifications to be pitching coach?

You don't need to be an awesome pitcher to be a good pitching coach.

Mario said...

maybe we should get cano hypnotized to think he bats every inning with bases empty, boom, nice single to right field, he's more patient, not a HACKER...

Greg Cohen said...

Cano is really amazing... 0-for-21 with RISP, but 2-for-2 with nobody on.

Mario said...

well i haven't seen anything from Eiland to blow me away. send him back to the minors, & find a new one... he's def nothing special, WE ARE THE NY YANKEES, WE DESERVE A BETTER THEN AVG STAFF...

daneptizl said...

I have no idea why in the world you send Cano... Cano is slow as what...

Mario said...

well with AROD not making the AS game, he'll get 4 days off, so he should play the rest of the way, & how about giving cano a day off or too, bring up pena to play 2nd base, cano's head is in outerspace

daneptizl said...

I can't believe Wakefield made the AS team... Beckett shouldn't have gone either...

Mario said...

adding TEX helped the infield defense, now, what to do about our outfield defense, Damon / Swisher suck ass..

Mario said...

the voting for the AS game is an absolute joke, but when you have a leader like BUD SELIG, you ask for it..

Greg Cohen said...

The outfield defense hasn't been nearly as bad as it may appear. Melky and Gardner have been way above average. Swisher has actually been surprising efficient even though it doesn't always look pretty. Damon has been bad, though.

daneptizl said...

Nice Derek.... come on bullpen...

Greg Cohen said...

And the Yankees lead 9-8.

Anonymous said...

Ransom sucks. He's played 18 games, has 3 errors and a .185 average. Ryan can't find the strike zone and Ransom is swinging at pitches in the heavens. What a turd.

Another great decision by retard twins of Cashman and Girardi. No wonder this new stadium is a joke.

Anonymous said...

Joba really hurt us by not going 6+ innings today. ANd, he was spotted a 4-0 lead. I guess Aceves is gonna have to go 3 innings for us.

I think they are going to have to make some decisions regarding the starters too.

Mario said...

yeah DEREK, still the game is only in the 5th, boston is losing in the 7th 4-3

Mario said...

everyone but TEX is hitting HR"s, WTF, if he gets around on that one, its outta here...

Greg Cohen said...

Tex is just aiming for the wrong part of the yard. He's hit three balls that were about 400 feet that were caught.

daneptizl said...

Jorge can't do anything... he's a mummy...

Greg Cohen said...

Hey Anon, Jorge is 4-for-4.

10-8 Yanks.

JC said...

Anon won't talk about that. He'll only bitch when he flies out later on to go 5-6.

Greg Cohen said...

hahahaha, true.

daneptizl said...

What in the world was that Posada... lmao, just flop down and touch the bag... :[

Mario said...

why send JORGE, come on, from 2nd base, WTF< WTF, with swisher up next, what a bleeping waste, who's are 3rd base coach.. idiot, retard

daneptizl said...

Sigh... Mark Lowe walks 2 guys in... Boston up 5-4...

daneptizl said...

Now you're just crying about everyone... our 3B coach is nice...

Greg Cohen said...

Aceves is fun to watch. I love how he pitches.

Mario said...

Hey daneptizl, who sends a catcher, let alone a older slow one from 2nd base, on just a single to right field, come on, thats basic baseball knowledge, posada was never fleet of foot, think before you speak

Greg Cohen said...

Here's where they gotta put the game away.

Mario said...

and now the bug is spreading, TEX swings at the first pitch, he really needs to get going again...

JC said...

>> who sends a catcher, let alone a older slow one from 2nd base, on just a single to right field, come on, thats basic baseball knowledge, posada was never fleet of foot, think before you speak <<

It's been a scoring marathon today. It was the fifth inning and you need all the runs you can get. There's nothing wrong with sending someone there and putting pressure on the defense to make the play.

You just like to complain about everything that goes wrong. If the throw was offline and Posada scored, you would've probably not said anything or said it was a great decision to send him.

Greg Cohen said...

uh oh.. here comes anon..

Tim said...

haha

JC said...

Aceves kicks ass.

Greg Cohen said...

He's great. The guy just knows how to pitch. If Joba understood pitching like he does he'd be a 20-game winner.

Anonymous said...

Why doesn't this stupid network show who is warming in the pen?

JC said...

Exactly. Aceves doesn't have great stuff at all. He has decent stuff. He just knows how to use it. He mixes it up, spots his pitches well, etc.

If Joba could do that nearly as well as Aceves, he'd be lights out. Joba has filthy stuff; he just doesn't know how to use it. Which is a shame.

Greg Cohen said...

David Cone just filled you in. Aceves for four innings? Wow, ballsy.

JC said...

That is risky, but I kinda like it. He's been great today and the bullpen really could use a rest. I guess Aceves is gonna be the guy to bite the bullet.

Greg Cohen said...

I can't complain about it either. Aceves may earn himself player of the game honors if he can pull this one off.

Greg Cohen said...

Awesome cutter to strikeout Lind.

Greg Cohen said...

Awesome job by Aceves. Great win.

Anonymous said...

Anyone think Aceves deserves the start?

JC said...

I think Aceves has gotta be the POTG.

Not only did he lock down the win, but he saved the pitching staff.

Can't really say enough about what he did today.

Greg Cohen said...

I wouldn't put him in the rotation. He's one of the main reasons this bullpen has been able to right itself. Don't mess with the pen at all right now. Call up Mitre and give him the start.

JC said...

And the season is now exactly half-way over.

If they have the same exact record in the second half, they'll have 96 wins.

Pretty damn good, considering they went through a couple really rough spots.

crossfire said...

Crappy game but any win is a good win.

Mike B. said...

All things considered, a pretty good win.

Mike

Greg Cohen said...

They were without A-Rod for much of the down times during the first half. Since he's been back this team has been a force, even with the bad stretch after the Sox series.

They're 35-18 (.660 W%) since A-Rod came back.

Sniper said...

I hope that this is an eyeopener for Cashman To realize what a dumb idea it was for him to send Peña to triple A over Ransom. Just another example of how stupid it can get so quick. Thanks to Aceves and such a great performance. If it would not had been for him and the great offence in todays game it would had been a compleat disaster. Once again thaank you Brian Cashman for shuch a good choice.

Anonymous said...

@ Sniper

You are right Pena is going to play elite defense. Neither one will give you great hitting. Pena is also the 2nd faster baserunner on this team behind Gardy. Pena brings great defense and good speed something the yankees need more of.

And Ransom cant hit what makes Ransom a better hitter than Pena.
