Ok You gave Tex a day off...Why is .234 Swisher batting second!!!! He quacks like a .240 hitter, he Looks like a .240 hitter... he is a .240 hitter. Why not move Cano, Melky or OMG Jeter 2nd and put Gardner 1st. Walking the fine line of luck that will soon run out. Thanks Clueless.

Teix is in the lineup, Damon is not. Swisher hits much better in the 2 hole than anywhere else. Probably because he gets better pitches to hit because of Teix and A-Rod behind him.

Swisher is not a guy where you look at his batting average to judge him. Look at his OBP, the walk is his game.

Greg Cohen said...

Tex isn't getting the day off, he's DHing. Also, the Yanks want their big on-base guys at the top of the order.
They're playing it like a moneyball team. High on base guys always go on top of the order in moneyball.
I don't mind the move at all.

Why would I come to this site when Peter Abraham gives us fans every thing we need to know and then some? Most Yankee bloggers don't get it. You're wasting your time. Peter has the Yankee blogger market monopolized.

Greg Cohen said...

Anon,

Look, it's impossible for independent bloggers to compete with beat writers. They have access to the players, managers, coaches, GM, etc. And as far as beat writers go, Pete does as good a job as any, and his blog is great.

As for mine, all I can do is try my best, and try to give a different opinion. If that's not good enough for you, then go fuck yourself.

... Nice play by Hinske.

Anonymous said...

That's probably the anonymous who hates the Yankees and comes here everyday.

Greg Cohen said...

I don't care that the ump missed the call, he can't put himself in a spot where that play is even close. For a guy who is as good a base runner as Jeter that's a terrible play.

daneptizl said...

Terrible play....

Greg Cohen said...

Dane, do you think I should stop blogging because Anon says so?

Tom said...

no way greg....you know we love you...this is a great site...that's why we always come back...

Greg Cohen said...

Thanks Tom.

Unknown said...

Microsoft has about 90% of the market monopolized with windows so why should apple even try? Greg runs an A+ blog so stfu.

Greg Cohen said...

lol good point Robert, thanks.

That base running mistake looms large now with the Jays taking the 1-0 lead. Andy has to hold them right here.

Unknown said...

He's been making some bad base running decisions lately. Lesson learned hopefully.

daneptizl said...

Anon needs to calm down before I death his computer.

LOLOLOLOL

Greg Cohen said...

There are few things I hate as much as the leadoff walk.

Greg Cohen said...

Jeter screwed again. This is ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

Wow, the umps really sticking it to us so far today. Jeter safe at 3rd (even though he shouldn't have tried, he was safe) and now the out at second where Hill was clearly out by about a foot and a half and he's called safe. Excellent.

Anonymous said...

fuck.

crossfire said...

Dammit!

Greg Cohen said...

Blown calls have cost this team four runs today, and probably the game.

daneptizl said...

Pettitte just can't pitch here...

Greg Cohen said...

He should have been out of that inning. I blame him for the homer, but these umpires have won this game for the Jays. Without the blown calls the Yanks are probably winning 1 or 2 - 0.

daneptizl said...

Damn, I was thinking triple...

Greg Cohen said...

Geeez you'd think they could give Jeter a call with the crap they've pulled today.

Greg Cohen said...

Nice slide Swisher.

Anonymous said...

of course we're gonna make another rookie pitcher look like cy young

Greg Cohen said...

Romero is a very good young pitcher. He has an ERA of 2.85. This isn't another Andy Sonnanstine or someone like that.

Anonymous said...

The way this guy is pitching this year, he might BE cy young. It's not just us. But nevertheless, the umpires let him off the hook early by calling Jeter out, and then he got a bit of a coushin, once again, as the umpires donated him 3 more runs.

If we get on the board early, and the umpires don't stake him to a 4-0 lead, things would likely be a lot different.

Greg Cohen said...

Where is Alex going?

A-Rod and Jeter are the two best base runners on this team and they both make stupid decisions on the bases.

Anonymous said...

Well, this clearly isn't our day.

Greg Cohen said...

Melky and Gardner cover a ton of ground.... By the way, I'm calling a Hinske homer.

Anonymous said...

Here's one of those turning points in a game. Pettitte has just retired seven in a row and the Yanks have made Romero work. If they can score a run or two here it could totally turn the momentum in the Yanks favor.

Greg Cohen said...

True, Melky makes a quick out. Not good. ... Here's Hinske...

Anonymous said...

Nice call Greg

Greg Cohen said...

Nice, now I'm 1-for-209483 in calling homers.

Anonymous said...

no special home run call for hinske yet...by sterling..i can only hope he doesn't come up with anything...lol...

Greg Cohen said...

There's nothing good that he can do with the name Hinske.

Anonymous said...

Greg,

No it wasn't me. I'm the asshole everyone hates her. And,, I didn't write that. First, I dont like LoHud's blog. I deleted it from my favorite folder about 2 months ago.

Secondly, I just got home from going to Orlando where my company just laid off all of the sales dept including managers and directors. They have no more sales dept. going to all independents. And, I was the top rep in the whole company too. So, I couldn't have wrote any of that (nor would I) because I wasn't here. And, like I said, I am not a Peter Abraham fan. As you know, I am NOT an media fan period. Actually I hate the news media (sports or any other). And, you guys should know that but my posts.

Oh well. I get blamed for everything. LOL

-The Asssholeeeeee

Greg Cohen said...

Nice takeout slide by Gardner.

Anonymous said...

Teixeira should bat lefty against him.

Greg Cohen said...

Damn it... why is he hacking at the first pitch? ... At least they scored one. Now Pettitte needs a quick inning.

daneptizl said...

For realz... 1st pitch...

Greg Cohen said...

STUPID LEADOFF WALKS!

Anonymous said...

Andy will blame the stadium for that walk.

Anonymous said...

Why is he afraid of Millar? This isn't 2003

Greg Cohen said...

This is a big spot for Pettitte. He's gotta keep this run off the board.

Mario said...

geez, gardner's arm is almost as bad as Damon's, Yanks scouting had better start producing some outfielders who can catch, & throw the damn ball...

Greg Cohen said...

It didn't help that he fired it right into the ground. If there was any air under it he would have been out by five feet.

Mario said...

and andy continues to struggle, i'm usually the biggest pettitte supporter, but i'm starting to question his heart & his stuff...

Greg Cohen said...

It's the stadium, he pitches scared at home. Just look at the splits. He's got like a mid-2's ERA on the road.

Greg Cohen said...

Big strikeout.

crossfire said...

Hey anon, I do hope you didn't lose your job.

Anonymous said...

He's really sticking with pettitte?

Greg Cohen said...

I don't get this. Everyone is rested.

Rich said...

Nice, leaving Pettite in is so bad that its actually hysterical, and hes still fucking in after that homer

Greg Cohen said...

And there's the solo homer by McDonald. First homer in a year.

george said...

yeesh...

Anonymous said...

Do you blame Pena for this, or is it on Girardi?

Rich said...

yea just in fucking time Joe what the hell

Greg Cohen said...

Good point, forgot he was ejected. But you have to believe he's relaying things to the dugout one way or another.

Rich said...

wow i just got home and didn't know he was ejected lol, but yeah he must be relaying stuff but it was still terrible for Andy not to be taken out after the 6th

Mario said...

lets see how much we can tax the bullpen again, thank god the all star break is coming up...

Greg Cohen said...

It makes no sense to me. This is why having a strong bullpen is a good thing. You don't need to overextend your starters everyday.

Plus you take Pettitte out on a high note with the strikeout and he doesn't feel like shit right now.

Mario said...

well thats it, i'm turning this one off, besides the pitching sucking, our hitters are the most unpatient jackoffs, Kevin long should be fired..

Anonymous said...

JOHN MCDONALD homered ! Are you kidding me? There are pitchers that are better hitters than JOHN *&(&#! MCDONALD

Greg Cohen said...

Mario, they've won 10 of 11, they're playing good baseball. It's one game. And it was a game where the umpires really screwed them.

Greg Cohen said...

Wow, Bruney is just awful right now.

Anonymous said...

i saw the bottom of the first at lunch and it looked like there were taking pitches, anyone watching it out there, did they abandon that strategy after the first inning? I am guessing they did due to the pace of the game.

Rich said...

if we lose this we're only 2 out of first so its all good

Greg Cohen said...

Romero started throwing more strikes after the first. The umps and Jeter let him off the hook in the first.

Greg Cohen said...

There's the third blown call. Another big one. Should be bases loaded with nobody out.

Unknown said...

These umpires must be Canadian

Mario said...

OMFG, he didnt' even come close to touching the bag or Hinkse, total bullshit, that Phat BLeeping ump had better get outta NY fast, blind SOB..

Greg Cohen said...

These calls aren't even close, and each time the ump had a perfect view. I'm not saying they want the Jays to win, I'm just saying it looks that way.

Mario said...

no, its not all good RICH, 0-8 vs the SUX, go 1-2 vs the worst team in baseball Nationals, @ home mind you, we should be leading the division with like 50 wins...

Mario said...

OK< TEX, be patient, patient...

Greg Cohen said...

7-3 after Swisher two-run single... Tex up.... keep the line moving.

Mario said...

3/4 hitters go down on 6 pitches,

Mario said...

does David Cone ever shut up..he just goes on, and on, on blah, blah, blah,

Greg Cohen said...

He's better than he was.

Anonymous said...

tex and cano need full day(s) off. everybody needs a break to re charge.

Mario said...

Does anyone else feel we aren't built for postseason success, if our starters can't keep it to a low score, we are giving up way too many runs early and often

Greg Cohen said...

I don't mind out top three in any series. As long as Pettitte pitches the road games.

Anonymous said...

I think CC and AJ would be fine, and Andy would rise to the occassion in the post season. Joba has been better on the road.

Jim said...

i enjoy coney...lol...

Greg Cohen said...

I do too, Jim.

Anonymous said...

Kay is terrible. They need to replace him. He asks some strange questions.

Anonymous said...

why were 2 guys hit by pitches? deliberate?

Greg Cohen said...

Don't think so, not to get the tying run to the plate. He was just wild.

Anonymous said...

Crossfire,

Yup, I did lose my job. I was top rep too. But, there is no sales dept anymore. Its history.

This is only my 2nd post so none of the other anons were me.

I have teh game on but I haven't watched a lick of it. Pre-occupied.

If they lose, they still took 3 out 4. I am happy with that.

-The Asshole

Greg Cohen said...

Jeter is 4-for-17 with 1 RBI against Frasor.

Anonymous said...

Crossfire,

Oh yea, thanks for your kind words to me.

-Jay

Greg Cohen said...

Sorry to hear you lost your job man.

Jim said...

damn...

Mario said...

thanks swisher, he just walked jeter, so swing at the first pitch, brilliant..

Anonymous said...

why didn't swish work the damm count !?

Greg Cohen said...

You know how Kenny Singleton always talks about that first pitch after a walk to load the bases? That's what Swisher was thinking.

Mario said...

well he thought wrong........is it the new stadium or just the new mircrophones, cause you can hear alot more background noise/fans etc on the yes network...

Mario said...

ok 4 strait solo homeruns,

Greg Cohen said...

I'm not saying he was right, I'm just saying that's probably what he was thinking.

Greg Cohen said...

You gotta give this team some credit... they got the tying run up again. Need a big knock from Matsui now.

Greg Cohen said...

7-6 Jays now.. with Hinske up... Does he have another in his bat?

Greg Cohen said...

Ah damn it... so close.

JC said...

Greg, you're blog is fine. I like it over Pete's because it's easier to actually have your thoughts heard. Smaller, yet loyal group of followers you have.

Mario, shut the hell up. The team is playing great right now and just took three of four. Stop your bitching. You think you're the smartest baseball person, when you're usually talking out of your ass.

And this game would've been tied if Jeter didn't decide to make a STUPID decision to steal third in the first for no reason. I know the ump missed the call, but he had no right even going there.

Oh well.

Anonymous said...

I have no problem with Swisher swinging on the first pitch. He did the bat before and drove in 2 runs. He has a good eye he will not swing wildley at a ball out of strikezone like Cano.

Also Kay needs to calm down in the 9th he gets overly excited and too dramatic. Glad Singleton is doing the play by play tommorow.
