News & Notes

- According to Bryan Hoch, Brett Gardner is headed to the DL with a broken left thumb, he will be in a cast for two weeks. Jonathan Albaladejo has been added to the roster.

According to Peter Abraham, he broke the thumb while sliding into second base to break up a double play. The extra pitcher is just temporary and the Yanks will eventually add an outfielder to the roster. Does Austin Jackson get a shot? Right now the Yanks have one guy who can play center, so calling up Jackson does make some sense. Shelley Duncan and John Rodriguez are other options.

- Dallas Braden has faced the Yankees three times in his career, all in relief. In 3.2 innings he's allowed a run on four hits, walked one, and struck out two.

- In their last 27 games they're 21-6, and they're now one and a half games ahead of the Red Sox for first place. They're 15-6 in July and since Alex Rodriguez returned they're 46-23. They're also playing very well at home where they are 28-10 in their last 38 home games.

- The Yankees face another lefty today, and for the season they're 20-11 against left-handers.

Stick around and discuss the game

And Alex Rodriguez gets the day off.
Good move, rest him against the A's, we'll need him against stronger teams.
Against whome did they score 10+ runs without him ?

Austin "3:16" Jackson

I would bring up Pena. He can be the backup centerfielder for a couple of weeks. You still have Hinske if you need to rest Damon. Basically Melky and Swisher are playing everyday.

Hopefully Gardner is back in middle of August. He is important role player.

1 trend that i don't like sense the break is giving up early runs AND having to come back to win games, already this isn't looking good...

Mitre has NO control, can't find the plate, really need a DP badddd

giving AROD a day off, Girardi shows no creativity with the lineup... how about moving Cano to #3, Tex back to #4,

another wasted inning, 2 on, no outs,

Mario, your an asshole, go bitch elsewhere.

hey anonymous, y don't you show yourself, punk.. not in the mood for your comments, when & where, asshole

That's funny how Kay, O'Neil and Leiter just can not sometimes enven mention when Jeter could have done a better job.

On this throw by Mitre, ok it's not right on the chest but Derek clearly could (should) have caught it. And all the blame is put on Mitre's shoulders.

And Derek redeems himself with a good double play. Nicely done this time!

Go Bombers.

it would be a miracle if Girardi knew how to use a bullpen

captain clutch!!!!!!!

Great job Jeter you can't turn a routine double play and cost us 2 runs with your noodle arm and then gets picked off at first costing us more runs.

a7tex said...

thats funny he turned 3 DP this game, and hit a 2 RBI single. Only look at the bad good job. O and this is only the 3rd time in 10 years he's been picked off, stupid red sox fan.

Mario said...

alright, everyone has a hit today, now lets tack on some insurance runs,

9-1 on the homestand and we picked up a game on both the red sux and the rays today!

Mario your an asshole, agree with the other Anon, all you do is bitch and moan when the team starts a game off slow.

Just got home from a family thing... nice win for the Yanks today and the homestand was great. 9-1 is a lot more than any of us could have asked for. They're playing great baseball right now.

Mario, quit bitching. The bullpen has been great of late and was solid today, too. Stop your complaining.

And Tex has been the 3-hitter all season long. You're not going to move him now for one game.
