Joba's New Powerade Commercial

Found this in my inbox this morning, it's Joba Chamberlain's new Powerade commercial. It's not set for TV, but it will play in movie theaters around the country this summer. Whow knows, maybe it will help him find his fastball. ... I kid, I kid.

Get your cheapshots in now about Joba. By the end of the year he will be the best pitcher on the team.

Halladay ERA against the red sox 4.46 era.

I wonder if Joba can still sell.

Joba will be the best pitcher on the team? Are you planning on killing every other pitcher on the Yankees?

Anon, how do you figure that Joba will be the best pitcher on the staff?

As far as the "cheap shots" go, it's not my fault the kid is too immature and stubborn to listen to anyone including his own catcher.

Best pitcher? He would not even be the best pitcher in AAA.
How about a little less focus on commercials and some focus on how to be a good starting pitcher not a 4 and done flash in the pan.

I love now that Joba is struggling he is not mature and is uncoachable. But the last year and when he came up in 2007 he was dominant and no one complained about his maturity.

How is that 160 million dollar ace pitching. He is not worth the money. The yanks needed a win against the angels he pitches 7 innings and gives up 5 runs. He doesn't look like an ace to me.

Joba is a stud did people not expect him to struggle at all in his career. He will put it together and by the end of the year he will be the ace of the staff and you will have the most confidence when Joba is on the mound.

Joba isn't immature because he's struggling, he's immature because he doesn't listen to anyone. A 22-year-old shouldn't be shaking off a catcher as much as he does.

He has no idea how to approach MLB hitters once they know what's coming and if there is one thing a young pitcher needs to be open to it's the advice of people who know the game better than he does.

Joba was a stud, but he hasn't had plus stuff since he injured himself in Texas last year.

@ Greg

How do you know Joba doesn't listen to anybody. Girardi said he doesn't mind when his pitchers including Joba shake off the catcher because he wants the pitchers to have 100% conviction on the pitch you throw.

Hughes shook off Posada in the minnesota series. I guess he is uncoachable to.

And if Joba injury is the reason he doesnt have that 97-100 mph fastball. Then thats the yanks own fault because that was an idiotic decision to have in the bullpen and then have him become a starter in the middle of the season. That had disaster written all over it. Whoever came up with that idea should of been fired.

First of all I didn't say he was "uncoachable."

Anyway, the beat writers who cover him and the team have made it very clear through their writings that he's stubborn as a mule.

The injury is probably the Yankees fault, I agree there.

I needs some powerade before he pitches.. jesus. gives up to many runs and can't last more than 4 innings.

a few whiny sports writers looking to create some drama on a slow news day can make all the comments in the world, but he has shown that he can be effective...just not lately.

let's throw him to the wolves everyone!

which is better?

5.1 IP 9 H 3 ER 3 BB
or
5.2 IP 10 H 6 ER 3 BB

i'll give you a hint, both were against the mariners at home and the owner of one of these lines is our 161 million dollar ace and the other is from our 23 year old
