Notre Dame To Play Army in first Football Game @ NYS

According to the AP, Notre Dame and Army will take part in the first football game every at the new Yankee Stadium next year. Army will also play game at the stadium in 2011, 2012 and 2013. A press conference is scheduled for Monday to make a "major announcement regarding college football at Yankee Stadium."

I liked this idea when I first heard about it and I feel the same way now. Football was a major part of the history of the old place, and it's good that they're bringing the game to the new place.

Thoughts?

I think that's great that they're hosting football.

This way, just like the old stadium, it'll have many other great, historic events rather than Yankee games. The old park hosted boxing, pope masses, soccer, football, and more! Hopefully the new stadium will do the same, maybe even more.

Plus, I hope they televise the games. Most likely I won't be able to get tickets.

P.S. Speaking of football, Giants training camp starts soon! The season is almost here!

I think it is a great idea. I love the idea of doing these things at the Stadium.

great to hear this, now that the old YS is gone everyone is quick to call Fenway the best stadium in baseball (to be honest, it's kind of hard to disagree with that). We need to elevate this stadium's status.

I think that the Giants should have been the first ones to play at the NYS, considering the greatest game ever played was at the old place.

I hate the idea, I hate NOTRE DAME, how are they gonna do that game, when baseball season will still be going on unless its late nov.? I still have it..

Mario, Notre Dame and Army have a long history of classic games at the Old Stadium. There is nothing wrong with continuing that at the old place. I'm sure the game will be played at a time that works for the Yankees.

As for what Anon said about the Giants, I agree completely. But because of season tickets and stuff like that the game would have to be an exhibition added to the schedule and with football that would be really tough to do.

I think this is great. I hope this means the Yankees will allow concerts as well, as Citi Field has beat them to the punch.

Which of these 3 venues will be the 1st to host a concert?
A. Yankee Stadium
B. Meadowlands Stadium
C. Red Bull Park
