The SWB Yankees defeated the Buffalo Bisons (Mets) by a score of 2-1.
PITCHING: Jason Hirsh made his 4th start for the Yankees. He came into the game with a 2-0 record and 1.80 ERA. Hirsh got 2 quick out in the 1st inning before giving up a solo homer to Nick Evans that gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead. Hirsh shutout Buffalo from the 2nd thru 6th innings, allowing at least one hit each inning but the 6th, his only clean inning of the game. Hirsh left with a 2-1 lead, and picked up the win (3-0). Hirsh's line: 6.0 IP, 1 run, 6 hits, 4 K--0 walks, 89 pitches---65 strikes, 3 groundouts--10 flyouts.
Mike Dunn came on in relief of Hirsh and threw a scoreless 7th inning allowing a walk. He tossed a scoreless 8th inning giving up a 2-out single.
Jonathan Albaladjeo came on to pitch the 9th and struck out the side to pick up his 9th save.
OFFENSE: Adam Pettyjohn started for Buffalo. Kevin Russo had a leadoff double in the 1st inning but was stranded. In the 3rd, Chris Stewart and Russo singled. Ramiro Pena had a sac bunt to move the runners up to 2nd & 3rd. Austin Jackson followed with a 2-run double to give SWB a 2-1 lead. The Yanks threatened in the 4th when Yurendell de Caster and John Rodriguez started the inning with singles, but were stranded. Kevin Russo led off the 5th with his 3rd hit of the game, but was stranded. Yurendell de Caster picked up his 3rd hit of the game in the 6th, but once again was stranded.
NOTES: Juan Miranda out with an ankle injury. Ramiro Pena made his started at 2nd base again. Kevin Russo is hitting over .400 over the last month. Russo is hitting .340 on the year. Yurendell de Caster has reached base in 35 straight games.
