Uhhhhh, WTF?

- Bryan Hoch sums up all of yesterday's draft signings over on Bombers Beat. He also reports that 1st round pick Slade Heathcott will be heading to the GCL Yankees, while 5th round pick Caleb Cotham is going to the Staten Island Yanks.

just stay away from Marte...unless the Yanks really want to mess up the chemistry of the bullpen

Greg Cohen said...

I agree.

Both Mike Dunn and Zach Kroenke should get a chance before Marte does.

JoeV said...

The real kicker is who gets sent down? Robertson? I'll take anybody currently in the the pen instead of Marte. I don't know who makes these moves, but if Marte comes up, that 7 game lead is going to go fast!

Marte pitched poor in AAA. Greg is right, Kronenke should get the shot before Marte. Just call the trade with the Pirates a failure and move on.

Teejay said...

Mitre will work as a longman in the bullpen during the boston series. Remember Gaudin is starting tommorow he probably wont be available in the boston series.

Maybe they bring up Marte for Ramiro Pena. They might want to carry an extra pitcher. Remember when they skip Joba and then use both Gaudin and Mitre as starters they are going to be a pitcher short in the bullpen.

Teejay said...

Dunn is on the 40 man he will probably be a september callup.

Capone said...

For those who care, the Yankees magic number to clinch the AL East is 36. Just throwin that out there...

Greg Cohen said...

Anyone seeing this Red Sox game?

The Sox led 4-1, 6-2, and 7-3... It's now tied at 7. Beckett started for the Sox tonight against Romero.

Greg Cohen said...

The crazy game at the Rogers' Centre continues... Boston took a 10-7 lead in the top of the 8th. The Jays came back with 2 in the bottom half and now it's 10-9 Boston in the top of the ninth.

Greg Cohen said...

Damn it, they still can't come up with the big hit. Why do they go into these three or four day funks where they absolutely stink? It's really annoying and could be a major issue if this disease decides to come around during the playoffs.

daneptizl said...

Ever since Posada returned, he hasn't been hitting like before his injury.

daneptizl said...

I hate it when a pitcher retaliates and misses...

Greg Cohen said...

Wow, CC just made himself look like a fool. Throw behind a hitter and then gives up a bomb. Great job sending a message, CC. LOL

Mario said...

good evening guys, i have bit of a problem, I have 2 tickets in section 127B row 19 seats 7,8 for the rain make up game vs angels on monday sept 14th, I can't make it now, i have to be in dallas for a conference, i just want face value for the ticket, which is $300, any takers,

Greg Cohen said...

Hey Mario, I'll ask around.

daneptizl said...

Sox managed to hold on. Too bad Lind missed it in the 8th.

Mario said...

this conference just sorta sprung up, I'd even take $275, its an error, but i'll take it, jeter is just HOT

Mario said...

whats everyone think of OLD MAN FAVRE, don't know vikings schedule, but i know he plays the ravens & my steelers in pittsburgh, I hope someone breaks him in half, what a egotistical maniac... i hope his arm falls off,

Mario said...

after blowing it boston comes back to win 10-9, damit

Greg Cohen said...

CC's mistakes have both been tattooed.

Mario said...

ok can we string more then 2 hits in a row?

Greg Cohen said...

Nice, Posada ties things up with an RBI ground-rule double.

daneptizl said...

Except he goes and does that.

Greg Cohen said...

... And then he stupidly makes the third out at third. God, he's one of the worst baserunners I've ever seen.

Mario said...

are you kidding me, first CANO swings at first pitch, wastes an out, then posada is thrown out easily @3rd base , terrible mistakes, OK CC team has tied it up AGAIN, get it together, stop this short 2 game losing streak, your our ace...

Greg Cohen said...

This is what I'm talking about. This team will play as good as possible for a few weeks and then turn into the bad news bears for a couple days.

Greg Cohen said...

Nice, 1-2-3 inning for CC, now maybe the Yanks could put a few on the board and give him a lead.

daneptizl said...

Wow... terrible... you could see the first pitch swing coming.

Greg Cohen said...

And another Yankee rally dies. Is that tonight's version of yesterday's DP from A-Rod?

Mario said...

I know, i was chanting "don't swing at the first pitch", if your in the batters box & the guy just ahead of you was walked on 5 pitches, you should at least take first 2 pitches,

Greg Cohen said...

Just like last night... same shit. We blow a huge scoring opportunity and then the A's come back with a rally of their own.

Anonymous said...

Nice job by CC to get out of that. It had disaster written all over it.

Mario said...

got the 3rd out, but y didn't arod just tag the runner out, that almost ran into him,

Mario said...

keep swinging at the first pitch you retards, keep helping this kid out,

Mario said...

are we a MLB team, or posing as one, geez,

daneptizl said...

A-Rod was smart not to tag the dude because by the time he would have, the guy at third would have scored.

Greg Cohen said...

It's a force play. The run wouldn't have counted.

crossfire said...

The team is still playing flat. They need somebody to wake them up.

Mario said...

totally agree crossfire, someone should put signs up in the hotel rooms on the ceilings above the beds, DON"T SWING @ THE FIRST PITCH

Mario said...

so is anyone doing the BEAT TRH STREAK on mlb.com. I'm up to 17 strait hits...

Mario said...

ok, melky needs to steal 2nd to stay out of DP, & crazy stat of the night, hanley rameriez 3-5 on only 10 pitches seen, thats 2 pitches per at bat, unbelieveable..come on, anything but a DP

daneptizl said...

That was a welcome break.

Mario said...

man has this west coast trip agreed with DEREK, nice, ok, keep the train rolling, TEX, don't swing at the first pitch

crossfire said...

Jeter has been on fire!

Mario said...

come on, break this game open, 2 run lead, I want more

crossfire said...

Nice piece of hitting by Matsui!

daneptizl said...

LOL, PeteAbe says Wilson Betemit drove through a Taco Bell with some fug chicks.

Jon Bachrach said...

I love how they had to walk texeira to bat to a rod... the yanks have been playing well lately i am proud of them.

Jon Bachrach said...

to pitch to a rod* ...

Mario said...

another nice inning by CC, nice piece on that pitcher in tampa who pitches both left & right, on espn.com click on mlb, nice video interview with him & his father,

Greg Cohen said...

Sorry had to do something in the house. Good to see the Yanks wake up with that five-run inning. Terrible pitching does wonders for another team's offense.

CC looks good, two mistakes and that's pretty much been it.

Anonymous said...

LOL @ Melky I am still laughing at him landing on Suzuki.

Melky is a funny player too watch he was pumping his fist like a walkoff when he got a double in the beginning of the game. He is giving safe signs out and he is always sticking his tounge out like a lizard.

Greg Cohen said...

lol Melky's one of those players that is still playing the game the same way he played when he was 12.

Greg Cohen said...

CC has thrown just 80 pitches so far.

Mario said...

extremely happy we didnt' trade melky to brewers for mike cameron

Greg Cohen said...

Me too. I hated that trade the second I heard about it.

Anonymous said...

Mike Cameron is too old. Even though the yankees would of made that trade if the brewers would of paid for some of his salary, this was after there big free agent signings Cashman didn't have anymore money. I'm glad they went with the youth Melky and Gardner have booth been very productive players.

Greg Cohen said...

Do you let the big fella finish it off? I do.

Mario said...

i agree, send him back out there, only at 94 pitches

Greg Cohen said...

Girardi decides to go with Robertson. Oh well.

Jon Bachrach said...

who is better nomar or jeter?

Mario said...

UM jonny b, that doesn't even deserve an answer... um ball 7, from robertson, "girardi" um, whats going on,

Greg Cohen said...

Now? It's not even a conversation. Jeter. For a few years (1997-2000) Nomar was better, but he got killed by injuries and has never been the same since.

What the hell is going on with Robertson? Throw a freaking strike.

Mario said...

this is what scares you, CC cruising, no reason to take CC out, now you might have to bring in MO with a 5 run lead, absolutely terrible decision by JOE

Jon Bachrach said...

just put no in whats the delay?

Jon Bachrach said...

they are worried about saving his arm with only 2 outs left?

Jon Bachrach said...

mo*

Jon Bachrach said...

BTW Greg thanks for the answer, I just remember when nomar was good but i havent heard much about him ltely which is why i asked

Greg Cohen said...

NICE!

Jon Bachrach said...

Woohoo

crossfire said...

Nice win. Great job by CC.

Mario said...

CC now with 14 wins, tied with BECKETT, & getting hotter, while beckett is getting blasted as of lately... how awesome would it be, to have in same season, MVP- tex, CY Young CC, & World Series

Jon Bachrach said...

if that were to happen then their 27th world title might even be the best yet!

Greg Cohen said...

That would be great.

I really want this team to win #27.

crossfire said...

Anything can happen but I sure like the way this team is built. They are a championship caliber team!

Anonymous said...

Why did Girardi start warming up Mariano. That seemed like a little panic move. It s a 5 run lead. Even if Robertson did continue to struggle wouldn't you go to Hughes than instead getting Mo up.

Greg Cohen said...

Girardi does panic at times.

Anonymous said...

If Robertson threw a couple of pitches right over the plate to the first two hitters and they hit singles would Girardi have Mo getting warmed up? Basically Robertson had to throw a 1-2-3 inning for Mo not to be warming up.

With a 5 run lead that was a nice opportunity to sit Mo for an extra day. I would understand if it was against Boston but come on it is Oakland. Hughes hasn't thrown in 3 days he would of been the backup for Robertson if he struggled. Its odd to me that they try to rest Hughes more than Mo.

Greg Cohen said...

"Basically Robertson had to throw a 1-2-3 inning for Mo not to be warming up."

That's exactly the problem.
