According to Michael Kay on his ESPN Radio show that Joba Chamberlain's Wednesday start has been moved up to Sunday against the Mariners. He then won't pitch again until the Yankees face the Rangers in the Bronx the Tuesday after the Red Sox series.
Just stop screwing with the kid. Pick a plan and stick to it. It's ridiculous when one day everyone is saying "we have a plan and it's mapped out", and then the next day the plan changes.

I would have liked to see Gaudin start, at least to see if he could be good enough to be our #5 starter in place of the struggling Sergio Mitre. But I think this is a smart move because most likely if we threw Mitre and Gaudin out there back-to-back, we might as well put those 2 games in the loss column. But with Joba going after Mitre we would still have a chance to win the series.
The Mitre has been throwing we will Gaudin in that game by the 5the inning the latest.
I agree Greg that it is ridiculous how they keep changing Joba's starts. This is my number one concern for this team. We really need Joba to have his head right so he can be a force in the palyoffs.
all this back and forth with Joba is going to mess him up. stop cradling him for Christ's sake and let him loose!!!!!!!
You can't "let him loose!!!!!!", that will likely destroy his arm.
there's probably rest planned for Joba after the boston series is my guess.
There was lots of Girardi bashing here several months ago. It's amazing how winning changes things. You girardi haters should give credit when do. He's done a great job.
Kay is wrong Joba is going to start on sunday but then will be skipped until the texas series.
The only thing that gives me pause when thinking about this whole Joba rules thing is how blown out a few young pitchers who pitched a ton last year look this year. Case in point Cole Hamels.
Hamels pitched 227 innings last year. (plus playoffs where we hope to be going a long way this year too.) His first time over 200. This year he's struggling. I'm sure there are others that I'm missing, a few are probably on the DL somewhere.
Joba is only 23 and I agree that they need to get a plan together and stick with it, but not blowing him out is fine by me. As long as we're winning that is. ;)
