Kennedy Headed to the Instructional League

From the AP via ESPN:
New York Yankees pitcher Ian Kennedy likely will pitch next month in the instructional league, his first game action since having surgery May 12 to remove an aneurysm from beneath his right biceps.

Kennedy said Wednesday it's doubtful he will return for a minor league game this season. The right-hander is throwing fastballs and changeups during bullpen sessions and could be ready for a simulated game early next month.

....He is set to pitch in the Arizona Fall League later this year.
Good news for Ian. Hopefully he can come back strong and maybe make some sort of impact next season.

good to hear IPK is doing well, both on a personal and athletic level.

I'm sure he'll talk to Coney and get some advice.

I hope he can rebound from this. He obviously won't be in the rotation, as it looks like it's going to be CC, AJ, Andy, Joba, Hughes.

He needs to log some innings and be successful in the minors, but I wouldn't put it past him to be a spot starter or maybe even perhaps a member of the 'pen.

He needs to perform in the minors because Kennedy is nothing more than trade bait. I don't like his makeup

Margo you're right in that he said some bad things to the media, but he's a young kid. I do think he'll just end up being trade bait, but you never know.

Kennedy will be a better major league starter than Phil Hughes.

Phil Hughes = Mariano Rivera. A failed starter than will be dominant in the bullpen.

Personally, I think Hughes can still become a very good starter. With a little more experience and polish I think he could turn out to be a solid no 2 starter. On the off chance that He is like Mariano then it is a good thing that we keep IPK.

I agree with Anon. There's no reason why Hughes can't still be a good starter. He's just turned 23-years-old so he's got time to figure things out.

Phil Hughes = Daniel Bard

Another example of a failed starter who is dominant in the bullpen. Hughes has a over 5 career era he is not starter material. The guy secondary pitches are a joke.
